I’m literally one of the biggest ye haters I know and yet still to this day, 10 years later, it’s still Yeezus for me
Replayed it today, as a 25 y/o for the first time in a very long time, and that energy is STILL unparalleled
The roads that album took me down, with producers like arca, daft punk, Hudmo, Bon iver, chief keef, nina simone … while also introducing me to abrasion and experimentation in mainstream pop rap…. Simply too powerful on my young impressionable mind!! Regardless of wether I liked the album or not, it was a nexus that shot me in the direction of so many different sounds that I would go on to embed myself in over the next decade, especially considering nowadays I hardly listen to rap outside of RXK or A lister drops
The album that made me want to start producing too, and still to this day people (ahem travis, most recently) try to emulate even a fraction of what kanye and his producer super team at the time managed to shove together into those 10 songs
Short, loud, blasting, PERFECT!!
The 2001 monolith of back then and still now
Alternatively, what’s the album to most recently enter your top 10???
For me
PARAMORE - BRAND NEW EYES THEY WENT CRAZY ON THERE
Yeah I came in here to say Yeezus
First time I listened to music and actively appreciated it as a piece of art. Genuine life-changing moment, and something that can only be experienced once so I doubt it will be dethroned.
Yeezus was one of the first albums where i actually was aware of the whole rollout lol

The perfect storm of dropping right when I was at my most curious about music too
S*** really reconstructed my whole sense of what I was looking for in music at the time and that feeling is a high I’ll chase forever
Favorite album OAT will always be House Of Balloons and don't think that will change.
First heard that album during the most formative years of my life so "growing up with it" I guess is the reason it stuck with me as hard as it did, not to mention being my formal introduction to The Weeknd, which then led me to KTT which has only furthered the way I consume music and the music I consume.
HOB (and the Trilogy as a whole) really stuck with me through some of the most important times of my life so far so it's not going anywhere anytime soon
Most recent album to enter my Top 10 is Jessie Ware's "What's Your Pleasure?". I'm sure most of y'all know it already but if you don't, please check it out! It's a modern disco classic and it's perfect.
Demon dayz
I was a massive Gorillaz Stan back then since the first album dropped. Feel good inc hit and it was all over. This album has been the one for me since 2005 I think when it came out
As I got older I gained more respect for the instrumentation, and use of prog elements, and obviously the dark themes it explores
I think dare kinda sucks though so I've been wondering if I'd swap it for yeezus or blonde now

The last good Kanye rollout
Take Care. Generation defining album. The album were Drake became Drake. The album that encapsulated my post high school life and guided me through being a young adult
Aretha I never loved a man…
Vespertine (live version)
I just discovered the Vespertine B-side tracks the other day and had to binge listen the entire thing again
Those instrumentals are still so beyond

it's been less than a month but i can't imagine myself looking back in a year and not thinking that ganger is a top 10 album for me
The last good Kanye rollout
even though it was a cock and ball torture session, the Donda rollout was oddly satisfying
Damn I was just starting HS when Take Care came out haha
First semester of college listening to TC man the vibes were immaculate
Yeezus was one of the first albums where i actually was aware of the whole rollout lol
Sucks you missed mbdtf that s*** to this day is a top 3 rollout ever I think
The yeezus one was so full of controversy though, was crazy too

only thing i remember from MBDTF era was seeing his SNL performance live on TV…now that moment is what made me a kanye fan
