im surpised by how much people like yeezus espically when it was hated so hard when it released (even by myself). i love that album now

  • Aug 1, 2023

    Yeezus.

As a standalone it's a classic, but add in where I was in life and how I got to experience it and it can't be compared to anything else.

Went to Gov Ball when he premiered multiple tracks.

Went to the tour multiple times.

Dropped when I was 17, the first summer I had my license. Was a soundtrack to many coming of age moments and milestones in my life.

808s and HB. I remember thinking like " oh I bet he'll come with a mash up of LR, CD, and Grad." and then when Heartless and Love Lockdown dropped I was like Perfect winter album.

I will say it taught me to hate long outros though. There's 0 reason why Say You Will needed to be 6 minutes long when dude stopped singing 3min in, but, I just chalk that up to Kanye doing his, " I can do whatever idiotic thing I want, call it art, genius, and people will agree" thing.

Also don't think Wayne really delivered on his verse, but, I get it, you have to have him on there given how big C3 was.

slightly related, but the outro on runaway can kick rocks too

    Underground Vol. 1: 1991-1994 (Three 6 Mafia)

It's just raw as hell. There's nothing like it in the world. Production that was 20 years ahead of its time that still has that grit of classic 90s records. Lord Infamous is one of the best rappers in history too. It's just a vicious, insanely creative record, can't recommend it enough.

    HURRY UP THOM

Favorite album OAT will always be House Of Balloons and don't think that will change.

First heard that album during the most formative years of my life so "growing up with it" I guess is the reason it stuck with me as hard as it did, not to mention being my formal introduction to The Weeknd, which then led me to KTT which has only furthered the way I consume music and the music I consume.

HOB (and the Trilogy as a whole) really stuck with me through some of the most important times of my life so far so it's not going anywhere anytime soon

Most recent album to enter my Top 10 is Jessie Ware's "What's Your Pleasure?". I'm sure most of y'all know it already but if you don't, please check it out! It's a modern disco classic and it's perfect.

Born to early to reap the rewards of AI driven medical research

Born just in time for House of Balloons to come out in my formative years

    Of course lol

I love love love how that record flows. The '94 version and the '99 remaster are both phenomenal and frankly the latter is better. "Purple Thang" is the most insane beat ever

I just discovered the Vespertine B-side tracks the other day and had to binge listen the entire thing again

Those instrumentals are still so beyond

transcended music, I can’t believe I never checked those out

    Hell yeah

One of the best albums ever, always saw it as a sister record to Underground vol 1

Just more cohesive due to not being a compilation

A Murda N Room 8 is really great too, it dropped in like 2010

  • Aug 1, 2023

that stuff about “jay would give you a billion dollars worth of game” stuff is such bs btw the guy prolly just wants to talk about fantasy football or about his kids or something

  • Most recent to enter my top 10 was HBO by Mach-Hommy. Not sure what my top 1 would be, though.

Murda in Room 8 is unreal

JGRXXN is so underrated as a producer. He was actually signed to Hypnotize Minds at one point

Yess!! One of the last signees to hypnotize mind

It’s so underrated, never heard anybody talk about it ever

My fav late career three 6 solo record save for some juicy j tapes

as much as I like that outro, it gets to be a drag when it goes for as long as it does. He could've made it like 45 second, a minute, and it would've been fine

Vol. 9mm is a masterpiece, it's by Juicy J, idk if you heard it, it's from '94

He's so underappreciated as a solo producer. The beats on Vol. 9 are some of the most creative, insane Memphis beats ever. Absolute genius at sampling

Genuinely a top 10 hip hop album for me

for me at least when it dropped i didn't think there was a single miss. something about it being warm out and being in love for the first time made it a masterpiece for me.
