I gave Jesus Piece classic status so why not this?
has just as many highs if not more and the lows are equal
that being said. KSG was an animal so i cant say it was better then that, the music is very enjoyable though. I think Donda LIVE will be a tremendous experience if he manages to get all the features on tour. probably make it classic alone.
its not better than anything pre-yeezus , hands down. hard to compare though, musically this is still great. But it won't get the room moving like a Slow Jamz ever could.

It's pretty bloated and a lot of reliance on features, but some really high highs. Just like TLOP, which is why I would put them at the same spot rn.
Great album. Still going back to it consistently. I also sometimes just loop come to life and 24 a lot in the background while I work.
His best since Yeezus imo. The highs surpass TLOP and the lows are about equal.
I don't think it comes close to the first 6 albums, nor do I think Kanye will ever come close to those again. And that's perfectly fine. Donda is the best-case scenario for a Kanye album at this stage in his career.
I'd put songs like Come To Life, Jail, 24, Hurricane, and Jesus Lord up there with some of his best work. Moon, Off The Grid, Believe What I Say, Lord I Need You, and Praise God are all honorable mentions. That's a stellar list of tracks in itself and there are still plenty more like God Breathed and No Child Left Behind that shine in the context of the record.
It's a great album. Flawless? No. A classic like his original run? Probably not. But nonetheless, I love it. Had it dropped in any year other than the one Nurture by Porter Robinson dropped it'd be my AOTY, and even so it's pretty close.
this is pretty much my feeling tho i love tlop
tell the vision is a weird thing because it really derails the album. Like Lord I Need you, new again etc are beautiful songs but i genuinely don't blame anyone for hearing ttv and going ok, i think im good. i think its cause you cant put a scrappable song in the ending section of a 2 hour album, it just destroys the momentum and f***s up the landing on what is otherwise a real solid f***ing album

Perfect take honestly. I’ll add that this album has incredible replay value too. I do wish it got more love than from just Kanye fans but I feel like this is where we’re going to be until the end tbh. It’s definitely my favorite album this year but obviously not the best that dropped this year.
Strong 8.5/10
THIS MAN PUT YE ABOVE LATE REGISTRATION

agree completely
I love the album but people saying this is “best case scenario” for post-peak Kanye is ridiculous. you don’t think long-game. he’s gonna come with a late career masterpiece when he’s 75

Imo it’s not best case scenario for post peak, it’s best case scenario for 2021 Kanye given everything leading up to it. We could’ve gotten JIIK or similar but instead he proved he’s still got it.
I could easily see him giving us a Blackstar decades from now. He’s a once in a generation talent and I’ll never truly be able to count him out
