Really? I feel old as bones
that's a bad attitude, your life is just getting started and you have your whole life left ahead of you
If you're looking to start over NYC is literally the best place to do so. We gotta whole lotta fake motherfuckers in this city from the west and south these days.
bet brooklyn has always been my dream spot so this sounds like the move
Move to New Lots b
70-80k alone?
I thought anything decent alone started at like 4k/month for like a studio.
I make upper 90k’s, but my job adjusts it based on the location so I’d be making 110-120k. What areas should I look into
lower east side is a super cool neighborhood with a lot of activity and real cool stuff and people like my boy that lives there ran into asap nast down there. if you wanna go brooklyn i’d stick to maybe williamsburg, park slope, dumbo, cobble hill. i have friends that live in bed stuy, bushwick, and flatbush that love it there but i’m not the biggest fan of brooklyn
I live in Astoria. 62k salary, 1300 rent + electricity in a 3 person apartment. Pretty comfortable but I'd recommend living in Manhattan

$1300/month to live with two other people is nasty. F*** the rent prices smh
i need all the tips man
how do you like it? what’s a good amount to make there and be fine? etc
Best city in the world
But you do have to make a lot of money because everything is expensive (apartments/food/shopping/nightlife/etc.)

Astoria better than Manhattan quality of living wise
costs twice as much to live in nyc as it does in texas and that’s putting a lot of pressure on your social life to be worth it there, especially if it sounds like you already have trouble connecting with people
s*** is dirty too
anyway, feels good not having to spend at least 4000 a month and not live amongst rats, both metaphorically, and literally, and walk outside and not smell literal s***, or keep a lookout to avoid stepping into human s***, urine, or just humans on the ground literally days away from dying.
I live in Manhattan on the west side. I work in healthcare. Around 350k a year. I pay a little over 5.5k for a 1BR luxury 24/7 doorman building with a ton of amenities (gym, laundry, pool, tennis/basketball courts, parking, etc)
You’ll be fine on 120k here. You could easily live in a nice manhattan apartment with a roommate. A really nice one.
Just expect to pay 3-3.5k a month for rent and you’ll get a solid 1BR in Brooklyn, queens, or the Bronx. You could even get a nice 1 BR for under 3k in some areas. If you wanna go the roommate route look for 2 or 3 BR in the 7k - 15k range
When you’re looking for apartments prioritize things like doormen, washer/dryer in building (even better if it’s in unit but that’s very rare here), subway access.

Money man u in general practice or specialized? I used to run a clinic in Chelsea, might've referred some folks your way
feel like youre only doing this because of girls Ricky
nah
I just feel like I need a general restart. I sat down and thought about the people in my life here who are “successful”. How they have a family and a house in the suburbs without really doing much else but stay in the same bubble. I thought, let’s say best case scenario I get married. Then what? I just stay doing the same thing for the rest of my life in the same place I’ve lived since I was born? I’ve never even traveled outside of texas outside of Mexico, Atlanta, and Florida. I’m chasing nothing here. If I’m going to be alone and miserable I’d rather do it in the place I always dreamt of living. Ngl though a big part of me hopes to find a good group of friends eventually there and also eventually a partner there
starting to look at neighborhoods… what are good places to live (budget for rent is 2,000-3000)
