Like morally, it would be the right thing to open our houses to the homeless...if we want to. However, we as private citizens have no obligation to do so if we don't want to. That's the point of owning property

Brother they will rob you and leave. Air heads disguised as intellectuals in here

  • Mar 26, 2024

I believe theres a difference bw seeking shelter and treating the house like you own it. 30 days is also crazy for just taking shelter. Crazier cause with the law it enables randoms to lawfully take over a property. I just don't get it but for things to reach this just speaks at what utter s***show the housing problems has come to

Y’all are either saints or too naive and privileged to understand the struggle of making sure you’re situated and taking care of your people. Life is a struggle for survival for more than just the most destitute people

Their situation sucks and should be resolved by the government but I’m not prioritizing a complete stranger’s needs over mine ever

there's 100000 homeless people in NYC and about 1 billion homeless people worldwide. squatters rights are an imperfect system that allows people to occupy unoccupied shelters so that they dont, you know, die on the street. if you dont like it, organize for a system of universal public housing.

So @op is rage baing, those are homeless rights and not home invader law

Nobody has yet to give me an actual answer to that question speaks volumes lol

I'll answer your question with a question because I can see where you're attempting to get at.

Have you and would you let a homeless person stay in your apartment?

Like sure giving shelter to the homeless is noble. But if we're keeping it real, not many people even have the facilities to take in the homeless into their homes.

When it's 20° and the shelters are filled up...aye I hope they got some thick jackets and blankets from a donation center at least. It is not the responsibility of citizens to provide their homes to complete strangers. And in cities with a ton of empty apartments and office spaces...if I'm a citizen I'd find it ridiculous that I would even have to be the one to offer my home when the accomodations can be easily available if the banks and investment firms buying up all these properties to do nothing with actually made that s*** available as shelters. Why are citizens made to be responsible for providing shelter to homeless and squatters, when they likely don't even have the space, means, and general accommodations, but these banks get off scot-free?

There are many safer and more viable solutions to housing homeless people and squatters that shouldn't rely on regular homeowners to have to make their personal space into a shelter.
