i really liked gta 4 and replaying gta 5 rn

yea i never played this. I almost had a chance to get it tho. When I was 8, I asked my mom to buy me it at gamestop and i went with her. She was about to purchase it but you know the gamestop protocol. The worker said that it was Rated M and had violence, d****, etc and of course my mom didnt get it.

v is not a great game and probably the worst gta story by a loooong shot. iv story is the best

yea, I've grown less and less fond of it over the years... even back then when I was caught up in the hype I felt the story was trash, all three protagonists were meh too, it was crazy at the time for the sheer scale of it but as for everything else I've really outgrown the game at this point, it's one big mess

Max Payne 3 for sure

trevor was the first time rockstar created a goofy/edgy character without the kind of clever satirical twist that made them so great... characters like brucie, phil cassidy or ryder always had a genius layer of parody making their absurdity feel intentional and clever for a more mature audience... trevor lacked that, he was edgy purely for the sake of being edgy, with little nuance to appeal to a younger audience

I don't understand why rockstar went from the dark ass tone of IV to arguably their most kids-pandering game... they must have been worried about losing younger players

Okay y'all doing too much to hate on V now. Yeah, the story is ass, Trevor is annoying af. But no f***ing way you can tell me with a straight face it's worse than 3

V has a bad story so that makes III with its 2001 gameplay mechanics and silent protagonist better Y'all doing way too much

Gameplay ain’t that great either maybe aside from driving and iii’s story is def better

I bought OG 3, VC and SA on PS4 just before the remasters dropped but I been hesitant to play them because I know going back to something that outdated will be tough. Using the face buttons to accelerate/brake

But I'll replay them before 6 hopefully and see if you guys onto something by ranking 3 above 5. I just don't see it

And yeah, 5 gameplay not amazing but GTA never really had that. It's still probably the best out of the series (that or 4 depending on preference)

GTA always had slightly clunky and just serviceable gameplay, the main drawing points always been the open world and writing/humor. Nobody brings up GTA gameplay when talking about the real innovative/influential games like SotC, RE4 etc
