Illmatic is considered a GOAT rap album. IWW was the first NY rap album to ever go number 1 on the charts. Life Is Good went number 1 on the charts in 2012 without a smash hit. Lost Tapes 2 almost sold as much as "The Gift" from the Lions King Soundtrack. And Nas just won a Grammy for a rap album from 2020.

His longevity without chasing hits or charts is unparalleled. Ya'll keep praising Jay but Jay had Samsung buying his s***, tons of hooks from bigger artists like Kanye, Beyonce, Rihanna, Timberlake, and Alicia helping him keep buzz and he's had the hottest beatmakers on his side.

Niggas acting like Nas is Tech N9NE status or some s*** but the fact Nas last year outsold the same Young Jeezy who mocked him and said "Does Nas bust his guns?" in 2006 when he dropped HHID. He also outlasted Dipset who also used to diss him and has a stronger legacy than 50 Cent who made him a punching bag in Piggy Bank.

It is what it is though. Nas and Wayne are both my GOATs which some might find unusual but it's all subjective tbh.
