    Question/request:

anybody know if Paraffin was released with a lyric booklet on vinyl/CD? And if it was, might someone be kind enough to photograph the contents and send it my way?

Been trying to write something on it for the upcoming 5 year anniversary which requires transcribing the lyrics because Genius is seemingly riddled with errors

But mine may be just as f***ed & the spelling of certain words/specific syncategorematic choices (had to look that one up) is integral

There are no official lyrics for Paraffin, as far as I know.
Both vinyl editions did not include lyrics. Neither does the FXCK RXP CD release or the PTP cassettes.

Thank you sir. I’ve got to make peace with the fact that I’ll never know for sure whether woods rode through Idaho like dual, duel, dool, dul, L. J. Duhl, or Duel (1971)

I think it’s the last one

You should ask woods on the Backwoodz twitter account, I'm sure he would answer! Duel (1971) seems very possible tho!

Always liked billy, heard all of his stuff and loved Haram, Aethiopes, Shrines etc

but I’ll always be grateful for Noname giving him a spot for that verse because I’ve been on such an insane deep dive of his entire discog after that. Had a huge ‘I get it now’ moment and s***ttt. It all clicked

Feels like finding a series of texts or something, every single album is so dense with great beats and rich complex stories

This new Armand Hammer couldn’t have come at a better time

Right back at it with the Backwoodz artist and affiliate shows that you can see in the near future

This Thursday (EDIT: NEXT Thursday, 8/31) at Trans-Pecos catch maasaai and (mystery collaborator to be announced) performing as part of a PTP lineup. Who could it be? No clue, but she was just recording some new material with Willie Green 🧐

Also performing at that Thursday show is Centennial Gardens, a duo consisting of Geng PTP x Dreamcrusher

This Saturday at Public Records catch Defprez (who put their excellent debut out through Backwoodz this year IIRC) performing with Nappy Nina

September 3rd at Baby’s All Right you can catch Shrapknel and Skech185 performing with Mr. Muthafuckin Exquire for AJ Suede’s Birthday Show

When I was in college I was telling people he was the next Biggie, Lost in Translation was my shit

Those were the Fat Tony/Main Attractionz/Big Baby Gandhi days, waiting for Despot to drop an album

Not to be missed if you’re in NY this Friday:

Backwoodz showcase live in Times Square, lineup is Fatboi Sharif, Cavalier, Fielded and ELUCID for the low, low price of $0.00

What a week to go outta town! Sheesh

Welcome to the woods club brother. I’ve always considered myself a hip hop head but it took longer for me to click as well. Sometimes a simple feature can change your whole s***

Favourite albums / songs by him?

Favourite albums / songs by him?

When I was 1st digging through his discog I think Hiding Places was my favorite and the outro Red Dust was my favorite track. I still need to spin through the older Armand stuff that was before Haram. 2nd favorite LP maybe Terror Management. I am not the most versed in the deepest best cuts, I am still trying to get multiple listens in on his all of his solo projects so I can make sense of it all. I only been on this year really. All of em are dope, even Brass which is a collab album with a poet.

Hard for me to pick a favorite album but it'd be either Known Unknowns, Aethiopes, or Hiding Places

Unsure about other PDFs, I know there’s a Backwoodz Discord server out there where the real collectors seem to be active. I’ve got a lyric book for Church that I’m happy to photograph/scan for you

Weirdly my copies of Aethiopes/Maps deluxe don’t include lyric sheets, but I’m sure the Maps one is out there

I’m working on transcribing Paraffin but obviously that won’t be officially authenticated - if you’re interested I’ll send you a copy whenever I finish (hopefully by end of next week)

You're talking about the HARAM CD that contains the lyrics right? I think that is the only official source.

Yeah that's right. Pretty certain also it was CD only.
