Yeah thats fair. I expect that would be the majority take on it. Paraffin is definitely a tougher listen like you said.
Although, weirdly now after hearing it so much I find it oddly soothing ang legit have used it to fall asleep a fair few times lol. Peace in the chaos i guess.

Rome's a heavyweight of an album though don't get me wrong. Just find myself really fw the highs on Paraffin, probably cause of the alien production. Things like the climax of Fuhrman Tapes, the beat switches in Alternate Side Parking and Ecomog.

And yeah in terms of Elucid vs Woods they're both absolute beasts, no question. Not like I've ever thought one is lagging behind the other. Know how to get the best out of each other and they compliment perfectly.

Yeah- it’s kind of a cerebral, ambient experience to listen to that record. I f***ing love the switch on Alternate Side Parking but there are several highlights of course.

Elucid is so good at that constant fire of rhymes. Plus he always starts off verses SO memorably. But woods’ lines are just always so dense. What a duo

For sure, that's a great description. And yeah I can listen to that beat switch on ASP and woods' verse on loop, its such a nice moment of levity on an otherwise relentless album.

Elucid is the master of kicking off a verse fr. Endless quotables between them.

Always felt a nice contrast too imo, like Elucid almost sneaks into beats and his voice and flow is like a weird off-kilter instrument in itself. While woods just comes crashing in on top of most beats and immediately grabs your attention. I think Hunter is the best example of what I'm trying to convey.

Yeah fr. Seems like if you’re tuned in to one, you’re bound to find them all.. seems like DoC made a lot of Ka fans, so hopefully Shrines has a similar effect

im really glad we have a decent non-sheltered underground community on ktt2. people know their s*** but there's no elitism or crazy non-sensical takes that reek of internet influence, everybodys 10 toes down and nice to everybody. you love to see it

That’s a fact but it makes sense, considering the music and artists we support, you feel me? Like it’s thorough/real s*** only

Started listening to the leak but then I realized it wasn’t in CDQ. Thankfully I only heard the first track before noticing, but it sounded great regardless of the quality. Earl really came through on the boards, production sounded like some creepy 1960’s noir s***.

whew didn't know this dropped tomorrow already, hype to listen in 4h

I just finished my first listen...Wow.

Ton to digest of course. But goddamn this is so good. Every song from Leopards on I was near enough saying to myself 'ok this is is the best song so far'. The way it flows from start to finish is pitch perfect.

War Stories and Flavor Flav are an insane one-two punch.

Andrew Broder might have my favourite overall production on this thing. I really was hyped to hear what he would bring, really loved his album with Serengeti, and between Frida, Slew Foot and Ramesses II (which I'll come back to) he stole the show for me production wise.

Super fitting follow up on Rome and Paraffin, what a trilogy of albums honestly.

Akai Solo once again puts himself in the running for being an elite rapper. Seriously, don't sleep on him, his verse is so good.

Onto Ramesses II, which is giving me the same feeling I got from Red Dust the first time I heard that, which is this is the best song they've made. Elucid's verse is so special and different from what we normally hear from him. Earl hits a new high. Moor Mother sounds amazing over this type of beat, compared to her normal abrasive sounds. woods is woods.

Overall, I'm feeling extremely positive about this off first listen.
