None of weightlifting is, all subjective to your goal. Deadlifts are extremely taxing to the nervous system, require a ton of energy to recover from. The only purpose I see for deadlifts outside of being a powerlifter is to strengthen weakened posture and mobility but that would be with way less weight than the average gym bro's ego allows

I’m almost up to 4 plates now and trying to progressive overload just way too taxing now

i'm thinking of replacing deadlifts with weighted pull ups so i can still progressive overload, are deadlifts that necessary

    Just do both lmao

i stopped deadlifting like 2 years ago because i'm so injury prone when i do them

i used to be super into powerlifting back in the day too but tbh, weighted pull ups are a really great alternative if you just want to be build mass - they're really easy to progress on too

For what though? To be dead honest with you I have seen maybe 5 people IRL that have deadlifted 405 with solid form and I worked at gyms for close to 10 years. What do you use them for? I promise you 4 plates will hurt you more than help you longevity wise.

Weighted pull ups are A1 but don't have any correlation to a deadlift. Keep in mind progressive overload should be for the purpose of progressing towards your goal.

My one rep max close to 405 but I don’t do that for training. Do like 65-85 percent training max reverse pyramid reps for back growth but feel like pull ups might be better for me for that

Not a bad concept of training at all. Deadlifts don't neccesarily work your back the way you think. They are awesome for your glutes and hams if done with good form and ofcourse your erectors will be hit. A pull up is working your lats and plenty of muscles in your upper back. Take my word for it, do the weighted pull ups and add weighted hyper extensions to replace maybe half your deadlift workload. The hyper extensions will help your deadlift and be far less taxing. Do you deadlift more then once a week?

Nah just once a week and don’t even do actual deadlifts anymore switched to trap bar to avoid injuries but feel like that’s even more glutes hams and less lats

Feel like you should ramp it up. Like start off at maintenance and then go up eventually all that training will make your stomach an empty pit lol

I like trap bar deads. The deadlift really doesn't work your lats (the lats are used in moving the shoulder up and down vertically.) The deadlift can definetly improve your posture by using your posterior chain to force your shoulders to be held back and tight but not the exercise to use for lat development at all. Give what I said a shot.

Can I reverse the damage I’ve done from eating a s***load of goldfish for the past month or so? I drink lots of water everyday, about 110 ounces if that helps. And just today I’ve started exercising. I just need reassurance that I’m going to be okay if I keep this up along with 16/8 fasting

No, the snacks that smile back

  • I’ve calmed down and my heart rate is in the 70s and 80s range with pure relaxed being like 75, I’ll check my blood pressure but I don’t think I’m in immediate danger. I can turn myself around. I weigh 167 pounds, I drink 110 ounces of water a day, I fast, the only thing I have to change physically is dieting and exercise which I must dedicate myself to. But mentally I’m drowning in paranoia to the point where I think eating anything that isn’t by the numbers healthy for you will kill me. I can’t even have caffeine without getting worried.
