How was it

I'll be honest, I don't really 'get' JRPGs, what do you guys like about the genre?

Not coming from a hating perspective, I'm just curious and it'd be cool to understand the appeal

Great ass game tbh

Really enjoyed it, feel like they really polished the Dragon Quest formula with this one. I have played numerous DQ games before (Main and spin offs) and tbh this might be the greatest DQ (Tho Monster Joker 2 my favorite off nostalgia)

The gameplay was nearly perfect, on the easier side tho. Loved how they did the skill tree in this one and how fast the random battles were with ultra speed and letting the AI control the party

Story aint crazy but good enough for a DQ. Also had some cool twists and some depth with some of the things that happens later in the game

Great game that i recommed to everyone that enjoys JRPG, and specially is looking for a more traditional experience and not a more abstract one like a FF. An 8.5-9 to me, i had a wonderful time with it and also never got tired playing thru it, also because of how DQ usually is done, its great for playing a bit everyday and long sessions arent needed to get into it. Its a long game tho

Getting burnt out on Tales of Arise. Might drop it.

Currently about to finish FF13 (I think I’m close? Just reached Ch12) and this has definitely been a game so far

Negative things aside I actually kinda like the Paradigm Shift system, Im not sure if im just garbage but the amount of Game Over screens I have seen in this game surpasses all the other FFs, especially during Ch 11 I really felt a difficulty spike in Gran Pulse

I prefer this game over 15 tbh, music and the art direction is pretty strong in this game - I think this game might have the most unique monster designs in FF too; the Fal’cie look especially ridiculous. A lot of people been telling me that FF13-2 is actually quite good too

I wanted to replay Heavensward before XVI dropped but there’s not enough time.

FF13 is good idc. Had fun playing it on release and replayed like 80% of it just a year ago and had fun again

Definitely will, already bought it and people been saying its quite an improvement over the base game. Havent looked as far as Lightning Returns yet tho so not sure on that rn. Doubt ill get to them anytime soon though with 16 and the Reverie coming out like 2 weeks later

first FF i ever played. i remember being 9 or 10 years old and asking someone in the store to buy it for me cause i wasn’t 12 yet 😭

some guy did then i ran home and played this and didn’t understand the combat one bit and dropped it pretty quickly. i was honestly just tryna see the cutscenes

never got around to finishing it when i got older but i might watch a walkthrough now

yoo you just unlocked my memory! i actually tried buying the game myself at first. but the cashier lady was eyeing me real bad and asked if i was old enough. i folded and told her i’m not. then when i went to put the game back i came up with the plan to ask someone who looks older and had him stand on the other line with a different cashier. i remember the dude reading the back of the game and being like “people aren’t getting killed in this right?“ i said nah even tho i didn’t really know s*** about the game. that guy was a real MVP now that i think about it. i hope he’s doing good
