Song was unfinished after the rooftop concert. All it had was the 2 verses and 1 hook. When they were scrapping Let It Be together, they pulled it from the vault and the final Beatles session ever was in 1970 with them finishing up the song. John was not present at the session because he left The Beatles privately in September 1969.

They just copy pasted the hook after the second verse to finish the song and that was it.
