What do you think about experimental painting techniques

Any crazy ones you know of

pro tools just been around forever

it’s becoming less of a “standard” these days but id assume if you went to school for it thats the first daw you’re learning

mixing and producing are two seperate jobs usually handled by two different people

mixing is more technical and requires a somewhat scientific brain as compared to producing

you ofc got people who do both like your Mike Deans, Nigel Godrich, etc etc

Is pro tools still worth it in 2026

not unless u have a career in music

u dont need that level of mixing/critique if ur not doing it full time or actually trying to release music on DSP

it'd be like buying a maxed out gaming PC to make resumes and work presentations

it’s still the preferred choice for professional engineers but thats largely because they’re all 60 years old

ive yet to touch pro tools lmfao

i like how mixing is handled in logic

i think some are gimmicks some are revolutionary.

there is this one lady that wore a morph suit with pencils sticking out like a porcupine and rolled around on a piece of paper lol.

theres somebody that drinks coloured milk and throws it up on canvases.

there are those people that make swings to swing on while painting or drip painting off it.

personally i think theyre gimmicks. or at the very least, the point of them is more art performance than it is the actual outcome on a canvas.

some experimental painting techniques ive heard of i find really cool is jackson pollocks drip paintings, people who are disabled that paint with brushes in their feets or mouths, people programming robots to paint, people inventing novel paints (like vantablack), or attaching pencils or brushes at the end of huge sticks to be able to draw and paint things on this huge scale very quickly

well always be open to coming back and doing it again if you want, dont hold yourself back if you get the itch because you “quit” or whatever.

what happened to u making cute comics and stuff??

obviously if u dont enjoy doing something then that’s different

andy wallace might be the goat audio engineer and he still does 90% of his work on the boards

I do need a new hobby though as I've realized everything I liked before is a bit silly

I still enjoy playing video games but having that as your main hobby is a bit sad

Art is a bit overly self important to me there's already so many pictures out there or little comics why would I feel the need to create more

So it's not very appealing as a concept to do that

mixing is something people on this site have such a sensitive ear to that unless something is attrocious i cant pick up on
