It’s just a matter of fighter evolution. People are putting too much stock in his gameplan. He’s just a better fighter than Conor. That allowed him to use that gameplan. Not many people could pull off what he did to Conor imo. The moment or something usually gets to people.
If you believe he was “elite” 4 years ago then you believe that that version of him would’ve been better than THIS version of Dustin. Lol ask yourself what would be different. This was a skill loss. They’re not old. You think the Conor that beat Cerrone would’ve been better saturday? The Conor that faced Khabib? Idk that any previous version of Conor would’ve beat Dustin Saturday. He’s that good. A new & improved Conor would’ve have to be present. You can tell he was shocked by 1. The gameplan 2. The shots Dustin could absorb & 3. I think Whittaker wins, then he will have beat #2, #3 & #4 since losing his belt. I think that's enough for another title shot although unless he goes to a grapple heavy gameplan, probably ends the same way for him.
