I tried using my midi decks to make some scratches for a remix im working on and quickly realised scratching well is a lot harder than it looks

If you dont have a controller you could just download a mixing program and use your mouse to scratch probably

Been really enjoying the sound this has been producing recently

And that’s crazy I gotta try one day so I can be humbled

Just copped a mpc key 37. I know about the limitations, but I’m more of a key player and I’m not trying to do anything serious anymore. Just want something I can scratch ideas on while I’m working or sitting on the couch. It’s a little bulky for that, especially not being battery powered but I can make it work

Kinda excited. Maybe it will help spark my inspiration again

This s*** is dope so far. Harder do to s*** when you are used to a daw but so much more inspiring. Just making s*** laid up on the couch while watching football is elite

  • Anyone ever start off small shows, open mics or performances with a built-in autotune mic?

There's some songs in my catalogue that sound great with it, I'm not professionally trained singer/rapper etc but you can hear the harmonies, melodies you name it on my tracks & how they're put together
(You be the judge for a minute) - linktr.ee/daiwan

I do want to give proper shows, performances for those type of songs. Regardless autotune or not, but I personally like the sonically. I use it on songs as an instrument itself/what I can do vocally

My other songs don't need it since I'm rapping. Wanted to make sure to have a solid set up, things in preparation and just go in for the audience

80% of that game is finding dope samples

Id suggest just listening to a lot of music and keeping ur ears open

Its not like what i do for instance where im always making melodies, where then finding sounds and synths is key

the most important skill to develop as an artist, across any medium, is taste. yes, it’s subjective, but it helps knowing why revered pieces of art, are so highly praised. Hell, Kanye can’t rap or produce anymore (atleast, not like he once did), he’s practically been coasting off taste alone since 2013-ish.

I feel that. think I was going through a time where my inspiration was real low, but I’m back reinspired like a mf to put foot on necks as I been diving into alchemists catalog

keeping my eyes and ears open, cause you’re right sharpening my own interests will reflect the music. lol ye the goat though, let’s see what bully has in store. I agree w you overall, he should’ve let donda be his last project
