Planning on doing a build when/before diablo 4
Should i go the course of desktop or laptop, & why?

reason i was asking.
Used a macbook air for D3 and despite not having the memory for lots of games it ran fine.
& i'd heard you can make some nice laptop builds when u switch to PC
buying stuff from corsair's site and they charged my order 3 times
not once did i ever a see confirmation page with that buggy ass checkout. worked fine once i did it on edge. stg if they ship and i have to go through that. hopefully support comes thru.
also moving my build to a thermaltake p3
im betting it'll be a pain to put it together but once it's done, upgrading should be easy. finally getting rid of these mustard power cables
I've been using an HP Laptop from 2015 for years. I'm gonna go ahead and finish building my pc this month but I'm not sure exactly what to get.
So far I got -
CPU: Ryzen 2700x
HD: 3TB WD HD
RAM: 16GB Ripjawz 3200 DDR4
Mouse: Razer Deathadder Elite
Monitor: 1080P 144hz Dell sumn or another its pretty good though
I'm pretty set on
MB: B450 Gaming Pro Carbon
Case: P400A Digital
I'm really just looking for a GPU/SSD. I'm thinking about an RX580 but I don't mind spending a bit more. Any ideas

580 sounds perfect for that. only thing to upgrade in that build would probably be the gpu so a 580 is great to hold you over til you want to.

gaming laptops actually have gotten way better as parts have come massively down in power consumption
you're definitely going to be paying twice as much for something with proper cooling and high end parts compared to a desktop though and you dont have a path of upgrade
but new gaming laptops work well

good to know.
I think at this point i'd decided on a gaming desktop and some kind of tablet for carry around use.

yeah if your serious about gaming a desktop is a better move, especially if you don't see yourself gaming on the go much
I usually keep my gaming desktop for 6-7 years and just upgrade the GPU every 2-3 years, a laptop sucks cause it's gonna be outdated after 3-4 years
yeah I have a desktop and a lil 12 inch macbook I use for when I need something portable.. it's nice not having to carry around some 6-8lb gaming laptop also lol

Not a huge gamer currently, but was in the past.
& pretty much done with consoles.
yeah my only internet device rn is a 2015 macbook air 😅
it ran dablo 3 suprisingly well, but along with being my main music storing device it really has no storage soace left for any other games.

lol nice, yeah its surprising the games that will play on a macbook with no dedicated gpu
I've played rocket league and sim city on my macbook, the graphics are pretty meh but it's definitely very playable
I also use in home game streaming via steam, so I can play games that only work on desktop on my macbook which is sweet

ooooo now that's an idea.
& yeah, i would really need to stop any other program running while i tried to game, aka needed itunes running from my phone.
but it was more than playable for me suprisingly. Got slightly glitchy sometimes playing online with my friends but was mostly fine.
I convinced myself i needed an xbox 360 when halo 3 first came out, so now im doing the same for D4 and a desktop.
1200$ (CAD) a reasonable upper cap for a starter tower for gaming?
