mid level gaming, coding some data science stuff and browsing.
Also upgrading from a macbook air to finally having a nice at home setup again
You'll be able to actually game on your computer now, unlike on the macbook air. What games do you play?

Don't forget Overwatch. That's probaby the best competitive game out there right now, aside from Rainbow Six Siege.

Kinda new to PC gaming and have an Nvidia graphics card that came with my laptop. I want to make short animated films. How powerful is the rtx
depends what RTX it is but most animated shorts, 3D Rendering, and more is done on the 2080.

Hmm. Ok good looks. Im totally ignorant to most of that stuff. Are there different 2080s?

yes there's a multitude of 2080 video cards all around the board and if you're about to ask me which one is best that research from there is for you to take on and decide because each of them equally get the job done.

in laptops there are no standards for what the oem sets the power usage or clocks or anything this video explains this well
desktop cards can be a bit higher if there overclocked but there’s a baseline
nvidia only make their founders cards for desktops which are the baseline, other board partners make the other cards

Dunno if my case fans will work with my board :

you're gonna have to use a hdmi to vga adapter

Sorry i meant vdg
Just picking up keyboard from buddy then ill post pics

nvm im just a dumbass ahaha.
Tried everything that made sense with the vdg cable, was too big/small/ wrong pronged to stay anywhere else nice.
But my system was on, recognizing the card, all my ram and storage, and every fan but the preinstalled case ones were spinning.
Eventually trying putting logic to it, followed every cable to understand where it was going to/ coming from, and realized i had no power going to my controller.
I'd thought sata was just for hdds/ssds. But plugged that in and she lit up like a beauty

That's a beautiful PC. You did very well! How long did it take you? And how is your computer running? Did you get the maximum speed for your RAM by opening up your bios and enabling your XMP profile?
Also, is this your first PC build?
Fam, quick question - should I 1660 Super or 2060 8gb ?
I don't care bout 1440. I play games at 1080 and stream at the same fashion.
Help a brudda out.
Also... which model cuz I'm lost in all the "too noisy gigabyte" or "cheap palit " and s***.
Appreciate in advance!

RTX 2060 8 GB obviously. And either get the one from MSI or ASUS... I would say ASUS though

I took my time and did a couple things i ended up needed to redo, took around 5 hrs, & yeah checked everything in the bios, was reading everything right, & yeah enabled xmp.
Need to get a longer ethernet cord tomorrow to do much further than moving my files over rn 😅
& yeah first build

I'm proud of you, man. See, it wasn't as difficult as you thought it was. You're part of the master race now.
Now watch this video, get the game and I promise you you'll be in love.

I appreciate the input bby but I heard 2060 is a overkill for my purposes.
any comment on that?

Yes it would maybe be an overkill if you did only game on it. But since you're going to stream at the same time so would I say it's worth it in the long run. Also add if you maybe in the future want to edit videos or other stuff so would it be worth the investment if you ask me.
Oh and the VRAM been 8 GB's means Ultra settings (If not all then most of the games) for sure. So even gaming at 1080p is extra nice. I would personally want it to either be 6 or 8 GB's
