Ryzen 7 3700x is where you need to start

    Or 2700x if you’re on a budget

3700x sounds good and is pretty affordable. My budget is like 1k

Oh I don't care, to be honest I'm not going to be using it too heavily on modern gaming... maybe a game here or there but I don't play stuff like Destiny or Overwatch. More like emulation and stuff.

It's mostly for editing and production, so I plan to dual monitor, but...

    Tryna get a new laptop

Looking for Nvidia 1070 or rtx 2070 64gb ram and i7 (which kinda comes with the territory)

It's been hard finding a laptop on Amazon/Newegg cus the only ones with the combo of high ram and graphics card are customized and there r no reviews for most of those products. I see a lot of negative reviews from sellers that do customized builds. Plus the ones with high end graphics are often goofy looking

Need this s*** for deep learning/huge data sets so I need the ram and the graphics. At this point im wondering if it's worth not getting a desktop since this s*** finna b heavy and hot as hell

Why those cards and not a workstation card designed for those types of task?
Wouldn’t it be easier to find that setup with the cpu and ram you want?

    Which one did you cop?

    Dell S2719DGF

was going to buy same spec IPS but figured I play more shooters/competitive games than I do scenic games.

the display is still awesome for sightseeing games though and for media consumption

    Sounds perf.

So many high end laptops these days with mixed reviews due to hardware failures, poor displays/audio etc. I thought for a moment that I should get a MacBook but I'd imagine one with the specs I want would cost well over 3k, which is my limit

I've mainly been looking at Lenovo and Asus laptops I have an Asus currently and it just had a SSD fail along with generally mediocre performance. Lenovo is well regarded but I've seen so many Lenovo workstations coming out it's a little suspicious and many have poor reviews.

The lenovo thinkpad is arguably the best workstation on the market that’s another good choice.
Its either dell workstations or Lenovo thinkpad, Lenovo will let you buy it with 64gb of ram dell max’s out at 32 you’ll have to upgrade it yourself

Deep learning is definitely an expensive thing to get into, the most recent build i seen for that ran dual titan x’s

Id recommend the desktop (i have a laptop with i7 and 1070)... These newer high end parts run too hot for the thin chassis.

yea im hearing that a lot. I might give up on the high end graphics card and just get a workstation for handling large data sets
