I did it. Blew my money. Newegg was selling a 3080 12GB for just a bit cheaper than some of the 10GB versions so I bit the bullet. And they're doing a $30 rebate thing so I saved a bit more.
Paid $1447CDN with tax
not that bad. converted to usd thats around $1150. the 10gb one i bought when they first dropped was around $900 msrp without tax.

Yea at this point I think I was satisfied with the price drops to just jump in. I want to play Elden Ring hella bad lmao. I've got around $3100 set aside just for the PC itself.
According to PC partpicker with everything I have chosen (pretty standard brand names) I'm just shy of that $3100 so I think I'm okay with blowing it on the graphics card.
Pairing it with a C1.
PC part picker slapping me back to REALiTi
All CDN prices. Anything black is purchased with taxes included. Anything not bought yet it subject to change. Everyday I find a new sale. I was gonna get a different Corsair PSU but the 1000w i bought was on sale for cheaper than the 850 i was gonna buy so my patience has been rewarding me.
Imagine not waiting for 5090
You're right they might call it that instead of how the next one should be called.
Anyway he should wait for the next generation of GPU's
hey thinking about buying a pc to build

don't get that monitor, if you want 1080p get a aoc 24g2 or asus vg249q instead (same panel just get whichever is cheaper)
you could probably find a better gpu on sale (rtx 3060/3060ti would be ideal tbh) if you live near a microcenter, if not though the 6600 isn't bad. if you go with a better card you should get a better psu though.

6 core cpu,
6600 xt
i'll also look into the monitor, it seems cheaper than the one i picked

you’re picking a better time than ever bro
gpu prices are dropping hard right now
i’d recommend a red devil 6600xt to OC and squeeze as much as you can
i would be wary about matx myself because they’re a b**** to build i’ve heard so i’d just recommend sticking with default ATX because that’s what most parts are standardly compatible with

thermaltake psus are hit and miss, they're known to swap OEM parts while using the same model name so you never know what you're getting with them. i recommend seasonic/corsair/super flower/evga (especially seasonic/corsair) for psus.
the monitor in that list is way better than the previous one, though 27" is kinda too big for 1080p imo. 24" or 25" is ideal. you might like it though

i have a rebranded variant of this i can vouch for amazon.com/Seasonic-SSR-650FM-Semi-Modular-Warranty-Compact/dp/B07793TFW8
running a 3070ti on it with no issues. this is semi modular so the essential power cables are included on the psu itself.
other good ones:
amazon.com/CORSAIR-RM650x-Certified-Modular-Supply/dp/B079H6111J
amazon.com/dp/B08WJJQRGB/ref=twister_B09HLQQDRN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
these two are fully modular so you can customize the power cables (note: ALWAYS use ones designed for the specific PSU model you have).
if you want to go in deep i recommend checking out the psu cultist list too cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list

All I am waiting for is my CPU and CPU cooler but the cooler won't come until next week.
Excited to finally ditch my PS4.

rtx 3060 is about on par with it. i think rtx 3060ti is the best card in that range though but it might price you out a bit.
stock will fluctuate. if you're on the east coast near a microcenter that should have some in stock. otherwise if you get really desperate i'd check /r/hardwareswap.

no real differences between manufacturers in terms of performance. the biggest differences usually boil down to how well their cooling solutions are. XFX is usually one of the better ones for AMD.
My old desktop is freezing a lot
Should I take it to geek squad?
Maybe you need new ram or have too many programs running...

Thanks man I ordered everything, just waiting on the cpu to get here!
Decided to upgrade the PSU a bit and get a fully modular one

Also I have a few questions @dax
Case cables connect to the headers, ofc, but I'm confused about the PSU cables. I received so many peripheral connectors, SATA connectors and PCIe connectors, and it's worrying that I may be skipping over something
Seems like the only things I really need to connect is #1, #2 (to power the CPU and motherboard) and then top #8 (for my M2), then finally a PCIE into my GPU ?
