awesome gonna be exciting to see what other parts you pick for cooling and stuff once you decide to build it

yeah at least scalping is calming down it seems, I have never in my life bought a scalped part yeah just seems like a waste of money.. I have sold a few parts when price were crazy high tho

yeah rumors about the AMD cards seem insane, saying they might actually beat Nvidia in non-ray tracing games but we will

yeah you shouldn't run into many Bottlenecks unless your trying to game at 8k or something crazy like that with these new GPUs

True lol... If not the best of the best so will I get something decent and will do it in the future though... Which should be good

Yeah I am glad that AMD is stepping their game up so that Nvidia and Intel do it as well which is a win-win in the end

True lol ain't no way so am I buying anything off a scalper

8K? Well that's the dream though... So I hope it'll in 2023 or 2024 be possible at 60 FPS at least but I think it might be over 60 FPS by 2024 at least

Oh man... This should be good... That 8K thing you did @ me in the other post

yeah you probably will be able to do 8k with the 4090 depending on the game but you'll be bottlenecked by the GPU, that's a ton of pixels

    and sounds good

yeah can't wait to see these new GPUs

some used 3080s selling for $500 after the merge

they’re getting scooped up pretty fast but i expect prices to continue to collapse

i'd be cautious of getting anything from a miner, especially if it's a GDDR6X card

seen some people get boned hard

yeah I'd definitely check the thermal paste well and stress test it for a couple days

also I would wait for Nvidia to announce the 40 series in the next month probably

prices will go down a lot more once that announcement hits, if you're gonna buy a card that was mined on for 2 years might as well get it cheap

yeah GDDR6X seems to have trouble staying cool and some miners don't know how to treat their hardware well

most miners underclock, 70% wattage is usually the most efficient so if the cards were kept dust free and had the paste replaced every 12 months they should have plenty of life left

hard to say if they were cleaned and under clocked tho

I still use a GPU I mined on in 2017 in a server for video encoding, GPUs can last almost a decade if they can get enough cool air

miners do underclock their core clocks, but ETH mining was extremely heavy on memory and miners were pushing memory hard, then they'd sell their busted cards on ebay claiming it was underclocked only taking the core clocks into account
i saw miners on /r/overclocking all the time pushing their mem clocks on their 3080 to like +1500mhz (and more) lmao s*** was insane.

that said, i'd avoid the 3090 since the VRAM modules were on the back of the PCB, but something like a used 3070ti/3080 might still be worth looking at if they swapped the thermal pads.

yeah that's true hashrate is more heavily tied to the VRAM clocks

yeah I feel like once the 3080 is near or under $300 used it will be more worth it but right now if it's only $150 more for a new card doesn't make much sense

yeah that's true about the 3090

the 3090 a waste of money for most people anyways tho

Maybe... I think the RTX 4090 Ti should be more capable of it... I'm not expecting it to be able to handle at something over 60 FPS but that should be good enough for me.

    Me too famo

    By the way...

not surprising wonder how it sells

i find it insane they are selling the 4080 12gb as a 4080

it has less cores than the 16gb

    Nvidia is so scummy lol

on TSMC 4nm all those cores also should be a beast at least, DLSS3 seems like the best feature if it works how they claim

Nvidia calling the 4070 12gb a 4080 like no one will notice

nah honestly, soon as the mining went down they just assumed msrp should be what resale prices were for 3090s lmao

the funny thing to me is we are repeating history

in 2017 the 1080ti doubled MSRP because Ethereum hit $1400 and the mining rewards became a gold run

then the 2080ti came out was insanely overpriced & mining actually was losing a ton of money so Nvidia didn't sell many cards cause gamers were just picking up used 1080s

    they got hit hard
    cnbc.com/2018/11/16/nvidia-stock-falls-on-revenue-and-guidance-miss.html
    cnbc.com/2018/12/21/nvidia-is-the-worst-performing-sp-500-stock-this-quarter.html

Nvidia said the 30 series would be a better deal which wasn't ever really true unless you got a card in the first few weeks cause they were always sold out since they were beasts of mining cards

AMD also got hit from the BTC mining 2013 & ETH 2017 also so it isn't surprising they refused to increase supply this mining run or undercut Nvidia like they always did in the past

EVGA came out saying they aren't making GPUs anymore and that there is little money in it but it's telling they waited for the ETH merge to make this announcement

    finance.yahoo.com/news/evga-stop-making-graphics-cards-063845186.html

mining was a gold rush not only for the miners but the people selling the GPUs and now it's over

oh f*** damn that’s insane actually. makes sense why the msrp is so high now. these companies are wanting to make up for potential losses eh
