Funny how you when you play 4K s*** on PS5 it tries to transcode and buffers once a second but it direct plays perfectly on a Fire Stick
the reason i don't like Plex is cuz you have to locally store all your files for it to work. also the fact that if you wanna watch it on your TV, you gotta keep your laptop open.

you gotta invest into a NAS if you’re not using a desktop for it tbh
They aren’t cheap if you want one that can run Plex tho
Plus all the technical s*** is annoying af

Yeah its not worth all the effort tbh. There are other easier alternatives.
Just got the time to set up dizquetv on Plex.
It spoofs a TV antenna and it allows you to make tv channels of your own content!
This s*** is a life savior. 90% of the time I’m too lazy to pick something to watch, now I can just browse the guide and find something. Going to make many more channels later. But this s*** is great.
And it works on my raspberry pi

That’s why I use an Apple TV for Plex.
Direct play’s literally everything with the new player. 4k, Dolby atmos, Dolby vision, with subtitles on.
Really amazing

Had mine for nearly a year now
Love the thing, only downside is the kinda s***ty remote but I’ve gotten used to it

That’s why I’m upgrading to the new Apple TV lmfao. Just for the remote. Selling my old one for 160$

what alternatives are there?
I dont mind to much about storing files locally tbh, but i hate that i have to keep my laptop open whenever i'm streaming

You can just buy the remote on its own for like $55 I’m pretty sure

Yeah but like if I’m selling it for 160$ I’m just thinking of it as a 40$ upgrade.

If you direct play everything and don’t share your stuff with others… you can do what I do and run the entire server off a raspberry pi. Costs 35$ and it runs 24/7 and uses barely any electricity
Con: absolute pain in the ass to set up if you’re also torrenting from the pi. And hard to maintain
gonna need that pass soon
Is Plex Pass worth $90?
Is Plex Pass worth $90?
Answered you in private but short answer is if you see yourself using Plex often / as a replacement to streaming services. Yes
Going through a major overhaul of my current system this weekend.
I want more automation. I want to save a tv show then have my server automatically grab the newest episodes. But right now my file format system, media library, and how I do it is so unorganized I basically have to start from scratch. Gonna take a list of everything I currently have on my server, import that to radarr and sonarr. Take my 2 10TB drives and combine them into a raid0 config. And redownlaod my entire library via automation. Will be worth it for the future

Wowww how bro?

Its a application called Radarr (for movies) and Sonarr ( for tv shows) it connects directly to your download client and any trackers youre in (free ones too like rarbg). You set up where you want your media stored, and it will hardlink everything from your torrent client to where you picked, organize the media so everything is properly named, and automatically grab new episodes of tv shows as well right as they air.
