Personally I don’t think the VR appeal is what is hurting the sales for this

It’s the steep pricing, no backwards compatibility, and lack of must play games

I still feel like VR is the future, but most people don’t wanna spend $400+ for this.
VR is gonna need TLOU, GOW, or Spider-Man level quality of games if they want people to invest in these

Their VR plan is bizarre. It’s great tech for the price but it feels like they’re just dipping their toes in it judging from the software.

To be fare games take long to develop and VR development requires a different skill set. In retrospect they could have just waited for the games to be ready and launch concurrently with even better hardware tech.

Not to mention they’re selling it at a loss (?) but opening it up for PC when they don’t have storefront nor the first party vr games on steam. A lot of pressure on Asto

Yea it would for sure take a long time to develop those type of games, but I think it’s worth the commitment to do it .
You gotta give consumers a real reason to want to go out and buy these devices. Give them games that feel like one of a kind experiences

And I think being able to play something like The Last Of Us in VR would be a for sure way to convince people they need a PSVR

I recently bought a Oculus 2, and I’m playing RE4 on it. And it’s really a great experience, and it now feels like the definitive way to play RE4. It’s all super immersive

But there just isn’t enough of those type of experiences on VR yet . Big, immersive games are needed

Most definitely. I LOVE the Wii version, but this is like the Wii version on steroids

Basically think of playing this on Wii remotes, but with more immersive controls because you are able to actually physically grab your grenades, guns, and knives off your body during combat .
To use a grenade, you can physically pull the grenade pin before you throw it.
To use the shotgun , you hold your VR remotes in place like how you’d hold a shotgun and you cock the shotgun with your hands after every shot . Also load ammo manually with your hands

And all of the encounters feel scarier and more tense because the villagers are right in your face .
And walking through the castle in first person with VR surroundings is an immersive experience that regular consoles just can’t duplicate

I can’t think of a better way to play the game

Goddamn that sounds like a blast; makes me wanna cop

I’m guessing you don’t have PS VR2? I’m curious how well RE4 remake transitioned to VR.

Looking at sales you can understand why they’re putting their games on PlayStation. They have all the tools to be a big publisher. They just need to put away their console dreams. The market has spoken. I

Sony is dragging their feet with delivering traditional games from their studios this gen (due to understandable / natural circumstances). Realistically there was no chance they could also have them work on VR projects. Developing for PS VR2 is like developing for a 2nd platform (à la Vita/PSP); you’d think Sony would be happier moving away from that business model, especially when their rivals only have to make the same exact kind of games for their own platform(s) (Switch’s TV & portable modes and Xbox & PC). It’s somewhat of a miracle that Sony even pushed VR this far, but the average consumer just wasn’t ready for it.

PS VR2 compatibility for The Last of Us is a great idea though. They probably wanted Part I out in time for the TV adaptation however.

Also Killzone would’ve made more sense for VR than Horizon.. Imagine if we got to experience this in VR:

How many of y’all have played VR for a significant amount of time? I have a PSVR2, it’s my first VR experience, and frankly after perhaps the first 2 months that s*** is just collecting dust.

This comes down to me simply getting VR motion sickness every time I play it for more than 15-20 mins. On top of that, it’s a hassle setting it up and wearing the headset, sweating and what not when the process of just picking up a controller and playing on a screen is so simple and comfortable.

I’m probably more sensitive to the motion sickness than most people but it’s still a hurdle.

I want to play Project Wingman and RE4 remake in VR so bad but I can’t get through them

On an artistic level, this is easily one of Playstations best ads

I remember that PS3 ad tho, it was definitely one of their best in a long time during that era. I really hate how people hate the white room PS3 commercial because its ominous lol

PlayStation was greedy as hell and had their head up their ass back then, but atleast they were actually trying game wise around this time

  • I'm always exited about a new console but I think mid gen update in this generation is so unnecessary. The circle started in the most s***ty situation ever and it slowly turn to normal.

Plus I don't want the console industry to turn into the s***ty smartphone world where iPhone 15-16-17 etc..is basically a numbers update (GPU, Display and Camera update) without any real strong features between them. It's just so fcking flat. We need innovation even in a small amount. I think with the AAA games we're in a good direction but the economy part of it is suffering pretty bad. They should focus on create a right environment in that . i don't care about 8K or 346 fps.

That’s why it would be perfect for VR
Sacrifice some visual fidelity for complete sensory immersion

Since we’re currently riding the PS3 nostalgia wave itt:

The earlier years (2005 & pre-E3 2006) of the PS3 era had a magical vibe to them, even better than the PS4 pre-launch hype imo.

I know alot of people like to say "PS2/Xbox gen was the biggest generational leap" but the 360/PS3 era felt like a huge leap at the time. People saw PS2 graphics and said "this resembles/looks like a person-place" vs PS3/360 HD graphics where people were like "this looks f***ing real".

People gotta remember too, PS2 level graphics were in the arcade before, PS3/360 era was a whole new level of fidelity.
