Glad you got into fisher bro he has so much incredible stuff to say about indie culture and we're seeing his early observations manifest themselves pretty explicitly right now
yea he’s been on my list so i finally bit the bullet
i feel like i wanna say “it’s crazy how much he predicted in the 2000s” but he himself would just scoff at the idea of thinking it takes anything more than just some simple reading to see our demise

the last part got me thinkin about hype williams - find out what happens when people stop being polite and start being real and how dean really does know so much more than most of his fanbase who think they’re so smart bc they found a black guy who has rap lyrics over shoegaze that’s not a type beat lol
simon is clever n mark fisher rest his soul had a cool handle on 10s music but only to a point
@AmoryBlain should be filling the missing points in mark's old stuff and building tenfold off of it
lacan was right in his saying 'i love you, but, because inexplicably i love in you something more than you - the object petit a - i mutilate you.'
people mutilating people they love to try and form their opinion otherwise....
Funny you bring up Lacan because I've been thinking about Zizek's interpretation of this very quote when he talks about love. In very loose and rough terms I've been thinking about how the relationship between our utility as agents of commerce and aesthetics is shifting. So many more people than ever are branding themselves based on PM enlightenment notions/respites instead of their everyday life. Pair that with the amount of people brand building around the idea of forfeiting from careerism etc.

Ironically and tragically it was him who was brutally chastised for critiquing the identity politics of the Obama era in 2013.

I would argue we're in the early stages of that "find out what happens" phase. Amidst all the interrogation of white people we've seen in black entertainment/social media circles, have we not seen more white people engage with this dynamic in a more fetishized way than ever? between identifying with aesthetics that are more broadly and generally defined than they've ever been, and socio-political phenomena more blatantly challenged in the mainstream realm, I think more and more people are trying to pinpoint what makes them the slim exception to critique in the eyes of the other that challenges them.

yep yep yep ur spot on especially with the last part
it’s true with race it’s true with sexuality. we’re all tryna figure out how not to get cancelled
i have this batshit crazy theory we’re gonna convince ourselves that the world is ending and in a manic episode we will all collectively let our deepest secrets out to each other before the end of the world between the obvious violence and what not. then it will be like falaise alarm! but our understanding of the world and our place as humans will completely change
and we all have to deal with this like mass expose of all of our psyche’s
i basically just think end of evangelion is gospel
I'm lost help me out
i'm trying to hack into la real estate chat without being too desperate but i'm
