onegreenplanet.org/news/chart-shows-worlds-land-used
The 11 million square kilometers used for crops supply more calories and protein for the global population than the almost four-times larger area used for livestock.
It's a huge waste to plant crops, only to feed them to animals, and then eat those animals.
Between 18% and 51% of all greenhouse gas emissions are directly attributable to livestock respiration, methane, production of animal products and other relatable sources, this compared to 13% from every form of transportation on the planet combined.
Animal agribusiness also both uses and pollutes almost half of the Earth's available land and is responsible for over 90% of Amazon rainforest losses. Further, it is the greatest contributor to wildlife habitat destruction, and it is easily the leading cause of species extinction and ocean dead zones.
Finally, while fracking consumes as much as 140 billion gallons of fresh water annually in the United States, the farming of animals uses at least 34 trillion gallons of fresh water annually.
This chart shows the disconnect between perceived effect/belief versus the actual fact. As you can see, not eating meat is the singularly most beneficial thing you can do in terms of environmental impact.

Your taste justifies killing a living, feeling, being??

Well hey! Cutting out cows and pigs is a huge step!
For me it clicked when I was reliving an experience I had when I was a teenager. Few years back I took some acid and was thinking about this time I was high af and found a squirrel that was half stuck underneath my backdoor. It tried to escape my dog but got stuck and my dog just ripped its guts open and ran off.
So I had to put this creature out his misery and it was so hard. It had me shook. I still ate meat for years after that but reliving it on acid really opened my eyes that deep down I do care. It was like night and day. I woke up the next day and was like "shit guess I'm vegan now" and that was almost four years ago. My only regret is that it took so long to change.
Everyone moved at their own pace. The important thing is to learn about the consequences of your actions and decide what you can live with.
As I opened up my ability to empathize with non-human creatures I've found it easier and easier to make changes. Now I bicycle almost everywhere to reduce the pollution my lifestyle causes. I only buy used clothes because the garment industry is held up by what are essentially slaves. I want to be on the right side of history in as many ways as possible.
Sorry for the rambling haha xD
I’m pretty much there except for chicken breast. So hard to cut out for dietary reasons. But def support the movement

i eat a lot of chicken so idk what i'd replace it with. I'm pretty picky.

Give tempeh and seitan a shot. Good macros in both.
Already have an official vegan thread. Lock please.
Other one is dogshit this is the real one.
Why
It just is. I'll be putting in mad effort. The other one will fall to the wayside. And there won't be as many vegan threads that offend your delicate sensibilities.

Hope to one day make the transition, feel like veganism is the future. I’m not mentally ready to do it at the moment though

Yeah thats totally spam.
Just give it a rest man. Whole point of me making this thread is to consolidate the topic.

Wishing you the strength to get through whatever it is you're going through. <3
I actually surprisingly have enjoyed a lot of the vegan food I’ve tried. It’s made me consider trying to go fully vegan, but it seems hard to commit to

It's actually pretty easy! But also it's not something you have to do overnight! Just start buying more vegetables, rice, beans, etc and fewer animal products. There's a direct substitute for almost every animal product you can imagine. Not all are good, mind you, but they're there to make it easier to transition.
I haven't personally used this website but I've heard good things about it! Maybe give it a shot.
