there were some people s***ting on Nas because according to them he had no "club hits"
Who ?!
Need to speak to them privately
I honestly want to know who started this s***, because it's a s*** way to determine an album if it's good
I don't know who started it but Drake stans certainly been the biggest contributors over the last years.
if you don't sell records and your music isnt primarily street oriented, you probably suck. It's the truth. The best niggas move the most units in every genre overall.
I really dont care about sales but when dudes start calling wack ass niggas with like 3 fans the greatest, they are blatantly lying. Stop calling niggas great because you like them. Stop calling sht classic when nobody heard it. A lot of yall go out of your way to criticize acts that sell well and defend the music you listen to. Most of yall can't even break down why an album or a rapper is good. This is part of the reason why people laugh at mysterious music.

In the first sentence are you saying non street music is more mainstream friendly so there's no reason for it not to sell well
Or only street music doesn't suck

Last one was this Wavy Santana dude who pushed the narrative that Nas is overrated cuz he lacks hits and he even denied that If I Ruled the World was a hit
Dude talks some cancer over 3-4 pages itt

Im saying non-street music is more mainstream friendly so if these dudes are really all that, they are supposed to sell.

Stupid ass logic. Plenty of classic art movies, music, paintings, etc didn’t get its shine during the period it was made and or didn’t have the popularity of lesser work
quote me saying "nas is overrated because he lacks hits"
Dude you were hating on Nas like crazy, denying that If I Ruled the World was a hit to push your narrative, the subtext is clear here, don't even try to backpedal

I'm talking hip-hop not art movies and paintings b

dude, your point still doesn't make any sense, just use your brain and you'll see that you're talking garbo, you're prolly stanning some wack rappers who did numbers
I'm talking hip-hop not art movies and paintings b
The same logic applies to all art. Popularity =\= quality

So you blatantly lied about what I said and then changed it to "I'm hating". This is typical Idk what I'm talking about argumentative structure from people online.
If you read the thread, all I was saying was Nas isn't a perfect rapper because he lacks hits. He didnt do everything at a high level. Biggie did. Biggie was elite at everything. You got upset, didn't read the thread, and then a week later made two false claims about me discussing Nas. I'm pretty sure I've defended Nas more than you on ktt.
These terms are gross and are just used to separate the art black people make for no f***ing reason. Nigga we all from the same spot and the same hoods that have the party rockers have the athletes, the nerds, the church musicians, the hippie girl, the black Buddhist, the dope man, the politician.
This type of s*** is made to make niggas fall in line and assimilate and it's sad some of y'all can't see that.
Why do people care about popularity? One of my favorite rappers right now has like 15k plays on his new song...
Who gives af if a song is "known" or popular. People who do this have a fear of missing out complexity
Music is communal and ppl like to listen to it with others in addition to listening alone.
The same logic applies to all art. Popularity =\= quality
No it doesn't. You are applying it because that's how you want the discussion to go. And for the record, most of those art paintings down the line have something groundbreaking that causes everyone to pay attention to it decades or centuries later. Mysterious music does not.
Is this that mysterious s***? I listen to albums that people actually play. And you actually hear it. You know, driving your car you hear another car playing it. Go to the barber shop, you hear them playing it. You know, turn the radio on, and you hear them playing it. It's playing everywhere - it's called great music. It's called albums that you actually hear the songs. Not no mysterious s***, and you never hear it.
