You misread or misunderstood what I said. I clarified it when BRAVE asked me. Read again.

Just read it. That’s still wrong tho. Non street =\= mainstream friendly

I said it's more mainstream friendly....

There's a difference between "Non-street rap is mainstream friendly" and "non-street rap is more mainstream friendly"

And please don't say semantics b because this is a debate and we talking about specific s*** and this goes a long way in life when having valid discussions.

I’m not arguing semantics. I’m saying that music being non street doesn’t necessarily make it more mainstream friendly.

And either way, judging something off of how many streams it has on billboard is a poor way to judge art.

Yeah but... That still doesn't go against what I'm saying

U asked why ppl care if music is popular and i answered.

Taking a gamble on a song u don’t know if anyone has heard is sometimes better left to professionals.

That’s why the guy standing next to the dj requesting s*** is considered a loser.

In general it is. Whether it's cudi, travis, cole, drake, etc. Those artists are more marketable because they appeal to a wider audience and don't discuss the terrible aspects of black america that caused people to want to censor hip-hop. It's easier to present someone on a wider stage or late night television when they don't rap about killing people, degrading women, selling d****, or literal emo depressing s*** about the slums in society.

I wouldn’t throw cudi on that list his subject matter doesn’t fit on those late night shows either.
All I’m saying is a tape/album like 1999 Or b4.da.$$ isn’t what I would call street rap and I wouldn’t say they did crazy numbers on the charts but I wouldn’t call them trash because of that.

Biggie was perfect at everything. He could do it all. Tell stories, make club hits, technical rhyme schemes, multiple flows, hop on someone else's sht or wave and make solid music, provide content, make music that relates to everyone, have records women enjoy, and most importantly, make a dope album from top to bottom. That's the definition of perfection.

You keep moving the goalposts when you can't respond. Just take the L fam.

Biggie wasn't perfect at everything, dude. He was breathtaking in some aspects and really good but not perfect in others. Same as Nas. You could easily talk about aspects that made Nas great within his lane that Biggie has never explored or aspects that Nas was simply better at. BIG hasn't got any song that is as well conceptualized lyrically as One Love or I Gave You Power, he never got as political or socially concerned as Nas, like substance matter is a W for Nas, he has the best album of the two in Illmatic, he had even more intricate rhyme schemes... and BIG was better at other things than Nas in reverse. There is nothing like a perfect rapper, like I said.

DJ’s did it to themselves by reacting to the losers more than staying true to the nature of their profession.

They saw bloggers and other tastemakers fall by the wayside and panicked making room for mysterious music that don’t work in public.

DJs, especially good DJs, are indispensable so they’ll be iight.

You’re not making sense. U asked why ppl care about popularity and I told u.

Many casual listeners don’t listen to music unless it’s with ppl. There’s other forms of media ppl enjoy when they’re alone, and music isn’t first for a lot of ppl.

Is Cudi not an emo rapper? What is he then?

Joey isnt a street rapper but a lot of what he talks about is growing up in the ghetto and what he saw. Just like Nas. They are closer to street rap than non-street rap.

He’s more of a psychedelic rapper than an emo rapper. Emo rap is like juice or XO tour life era Uzi.

Tell me what biggie was not perfect at. He could do it all.

Niggas bleed is as conceptual lyrically as i gave you power or one love. Biggie got political and socially conscious. Everyday struggle is an example of him being personal. Sky's the limit. Things done changed is political. He has examples. He had substance. He had everything. Could someone be great at something and have someone still b better? Yes. Never said otherwise. Pac and Nas were better at discussing topics like this but that doesn't mean biggie wasn't great at it either. Same way Nas could rap about mafioso sht at a high level but biggie was better.

  • Dec 15, 2019

Eminem and Pac are the only rappers with two diamond albums. Pac is madly street-connected and Eminem was not mainstream-friendly at all with his subject matter.
