yeah The Beatles had a lot of funky s*** in their catalog tbh now that i think about it
the Beatles were cool as f***. people don't get it now bc they just see them as 'old' or whatever but once they started going counterculture they were the epitome of cool in the 60s. Taylor swift has never been cool
So let’s say you have to get a 20 year old to recognize a song by humming the melody, and you win a million dollars if they get it right
Now you get to pick: Shake It Off or any Beatles song
Which one you doing?
the Beatles bruh
all you need is love or hey jude would do it
can we start autobanning threads with “Taylor swift” “Michael Jackson” “Beatles” “records” “streams” “monoculture” in the title in some way?

they need to make a filter like how they got one on 4chan tbh
Drake would be the very first word i’d throw in there
Unrelated but I was at the store the day after the Super Bowl wearing a red hoodie. This white woman says to me, “wearing your Chiefs red today?” I said “nah, not really into football” and ask if she’s a Chiefs fan. She replies, “I mean cmon…it’s Taylor” and walks away 😭 I was dying laughing.

Hey Jude maybe but I don’t think the average 20 year old knows all you need is love lol
die
like not no funny s*** if she died right now she'd be propelled to legend status whether she deserve it or not.
part of why she's so big is she took her hyper-successful milquetoast-acceptable white girl radio pop formula and then compounded it by not taking a single real risk in her entire career but she's been promoting herself as if she has at every turn. you can basically prove this because despite being one of the highest selling artists ever, she has 0 influence at all on music. there's no "taylor swift clones" because there's nothing to clone.
the beatles and MJ were both artists who took significant risks and that resulted in musical influence besides just sales. the only thing swift has influenced is marketing technique
Like what basic f***ing s*** is this
“I went to starbucks i had a cold brew, thats when i laid eyes on you”
S*** ABC music
Crying what song is this 😭
The Beatles had everyone in a chokehold. There's a story about a label head who had an unmastered version of Srgt Peppers and he played it in the lobby of a hotel in which the Beatles were staying and everyone stopped what they were doing and listened to the unfinished album together.
No one is doing that with any artist PERIOD.
I'm not a battle fan really, hardly listened to all their work but regardless of this record sale talk, their influence on culture is unmatched. They're talent and taste level was unmatched. Swift does not have any of that.

I think Michael was bigger than the Beatles on all levels
I think Michael was bigger than the Beatles on all levels
Mostly just talking about the Beatles vs. Swift
I think Michael was bigger than the Beatles on all levels
the Beatles caused a sea change in the way all music was recorded and presented. Michael just changed the way it was performed, arguably for the worse.
MJ was easily the biggest to ever do it. My grandma didn’t know a word of English but she knew about him. He just came at a time where stardom was way more special and also made some of the best music ever that resonated universally.
I don’t think she can come close, specially internationally.
She doesn’t have that mass appeal across the board that The Beatles and MJ have. Taylor appeals to a large, but specific demographic and the type of music she makes to appease that demographic is unlikely to change.
Except she’s changed the type of music she’s made at least 3 times so far, like literally different genres
And what is mass appeal if it isn’t selling out 146 shows across 5 continents? Who else is selling out Tokyo dome and SoFi for runs of consecutive nights

Not engaging with this bait
Is she not already bigger than them on paper though? It's in all the other ways that she will never approach them

Bruno just did 7 nights in a row at the Tokyo Dome last month
