  • Rappers portray a narrative of power, egoism and masculinity. S***and violence are exaggerated to convey that the rapper is powerful and more successful than his competition.

Because Hip Hop like any other form of entertainment is about power and who does or does not have it. The artist performing the song is typically the one who has power and therefore the other characters in the song are lacking it.
Hip Hop is a male and heterosexual dominated genre, so most of the time this ends with the male artist having greater agency than the female characters/subject in the song.

He's sorta right about the conventional disrespect that's directed towards women in hip hop. But, this s*** is art & not open to being 'held to a standard' of attitude or subject content. A lotta young women claim rap culture as part of their identity, and their usually cringey lil thots. Embracing a "misogynistic" culture is the only thing furthering it, its why in venues like stand-up comedy for example, women don't embrace "misogynistic" jokes or any sort of association with it, they combat it. It's inevitable. That's how it's always been and always will be. There's far more topics of actual importance though, this is just another fake woke discussion attempt.

What’s the point in bringing this up? It’s not gonna change anything
A single comedy rapper vs the rest of an entire community, I wonder who’s going to win

Why is misogyny such a hot topic when it comes to rap,but not other genres or the industry at large. Or Hollywood movies and film. Why can every other entities masculinity can be hidden behind the art tag,but not hiphop? Can a black dominated genre be incapable of making art? Something doesn't feel right about the constant critiques. Ed Sheeran's catalogue is full of misogyny, but you never see the think pieces.

Because they’re nutting in white women raw and telling them to take a hike while their baby d*** husband or father gotta watch Mary Sue pop out a Javon Tyrell

This is true. Reminds me of Billie Elish saying when she stretches the truth in her music it’s art and storytelling but when a rapper does it it’s lies

This is partly fans fault we hold authenticity above all else in hiphop and it's a double edged sword. Yeah, you want someone to actually be living the life and not be counterfeit, but you're placing someone in a box where they can't just express their feelings or tell a story from someone else's perspective.
