MCNfelt that the clearance hearing was the most important part of the movie. the movie was less about telling the story of oppenheimer/the manhattan project and more a commentary on how america treats its heroes
And that is a wasted opportunity

Personally I liked how the bomb was shown. Silence when it happened then loud when he remembers it

Last hour of the movie after the explosion was my favorite section tbh. Tension went up an extra level and seeing how Oppenheimer’s invention affected him was dope to me

The film isn't actually concerned with any of that stuff. That's just how you hold on Oppenheimer and honestly who cares. I don't think he even seemed that special. The timeline race against Nazis wasn't even real. Teller made the H bomb lol. His own movie couldn't sell him as a great man of history

I mean it was the most compelling art in the film. The sound design was so smart. Feels like he honestly just took people's critique and said "oh it's too loud? How about nothing." Brilliant.
The movie is about the bomb. It doesn't show them using slave labor to mine it out of the congo. It doesn't show who we dropped it on. It just makes you root for these scientists and take seriously their moral quandary. It's such a narrow, blinkered space to tell the story in
