He should've just been getting Sloppenheimer
but yeah this likely going to be Nolans most overhated movie . The fact that some are missing the point this much has made me further lose hope in humanity and it was already gone

WITH A STRAIGHT FACE
They keep saying one of the worst takes I have ever heard
The Mexican lady wild too
Because the movie really addresses damn near all of that
Dialogue was impossible to understand at parts
Also had trouble remembering faces with names
I enjoyed dunkirk more than this
That’s Nolan for you
Damn man... might have to watch this again but this up there w Memento/Dark Knight for me

Everything we said about the testing grounds in that thread was pretty much corroborated word for word in the movie but you know

lol I have realized the entire internet be it KTT, Twitter, Instagram, facebook whatever else is created is not a place for serious discussion of anything. People have all the access to google in the world but won't use it. All it takes is one emotional statement to go viral. Then any questioning the person who said it or their statements is viewed as attacking them a human being rather than acknowledging that what they are saying isnt the entire truth.
Yeah. The visuals were good but it’s really not THAT visual of a movie to the point where IMAX is necessary to fully enjoy it.
As far as the movie in general there’s a lot of great scenes and performances in it, but I thought the pacing was bad.
The clearance hearing & Strauss stuff were not interesting enough to justify that much screen time. The movie even acknowledges it at the end “hey Strauss maybe Oppenheimer & Einstein were actually talking about something more important than you.” Exactly so why did we just spend an hour+ on Strauss?
Edit: after sitting on it for a while and getting my thoughts together ima just admit it; this movie was very disappointing.
It completely lacks a centerpiece. The test bomb did NOT do it. The movie is 2 hours of build-up and 1 hour of fallout with no climax. I understand that it would’ve been tough to depict tastefully, but Nolan needed to show something from Japan to showcase the horrors of what Oppenheimer had done.
As it stands the movie is just hours of guys in rooms telling us that bombs are bad. There’s no captivating debate here, there’s no tension. I don’t care about Oppenheimer’s security clearance. I don’t care about Strauss’s cabinet confirmation.
Just watched and this is spot on it was boring asf the Strauss part of the movie I get is important but it just put me to sleep I wanna give it another chance though

what is an exciting biopic to you?
The YouTube reviewers turned 180° on this movie
The big names (save Grace Midolph) loved it and all the clickbait funko pop losers are hating on it today
Emily Blunt's acting when Kitty was getting questioned was great. RDJ was awesome, Cilian was obviously awesome. Loved it. Dialogue heavy but such an amazing star studded cast but this doesn't compromise the story at all, everyone is there to play their role to support the story. No one is doing it like Nolan
People saying this boring is blowing my mind lmao you don’t edit a film like with that type of score and have it be “boring” it’s literally impossible first hour of the film was literally a montage
you think he needed to show something of Japan when in the final hour Oppenheimer multiple times imagines a nuke going off in rooms he is in discusses the 150-200k dead in japan in the following years sees human flesh melt off faces and steps on a charred body?
Are y'all f***ing brain dead?
Its more than being in rooms saying bombs are bad. The reason Nolan shows those horrors on American faces rather than Japanese faces is abundantly clear.
What’s crazy is that people saying this still don’t get IT. Nolan using Oppi as a vessel to have those visions plays out better. When they’re showing them the slides and Oppie winces at the photos we can only imagine what he was being shown, and then WE DO. He literally sees it in the Americans.
I don’t buy this
The black and white just seemed to be from Strauss’ POV and I have a problem with that being objective and the rest subjective

the whole final hour hammers the severity home
Mfers really here like “yeah show us more of those war shots bb”
Wierdos. Nolan literally made fun of Americas hard on for violence in the movie. Go read Gravity’s Rainbow or something if you into some that gross s***. Jesus

My take was that Strauss was a man of bureaucracy and was a very black and white / binary person. He had no complexity. It was either “this” or “that”.
Overall though subjective or not subjective Nolan shouldnt have said anything to explain to anyone. He should have just let that be. I feel like if you actually just watch the movie you know that the Black and White scenes are from Strauss’s POV. It’s made abundantly clear
