lol kr0niic didnt say that it was just me
and it was just one shot in the snow that gave me those vibes with the color grading
oh yeah I just tagged kroniic because he a last of us 2 die hard and I liked ending the movie with what Einstein really said then a horrifically dark ending of the visuals of nukes going off worldwide felt very dark
Same applies to Einstein
they feared the Nazis that much
I mean
It’s Hitler
I mean
It’s Hitler
I know lol I agree but bro over here like "why did he change his morals"
when thats even addressed in the movie
also on the death of jean y'all think she was killed right? Like to get at Oppenheimer but its shown where either possibility happened
Did anyone else think Strauss was kinda right about Oppenheimer just wanting to be remembered for Trinity and not Hiroshima and that being the reason he was against the H-bomb? It certainly helped his image in the long run, cus that’s basically how we remember him. Felt like it was kind of breaking the 4th wall.
Hauntingly perfect
Ngl I forgot what the ending was? It was the convo with Einstein at the lake right?

Yeah it was the einstein convo reveal where he says the line thats like “remember when we thought we could create a chain reaction that would destroy the whole world? Well i believe we did” then it cuts to the nukes launching igniting the atmosphere
Very chilling

Shows the entire reason he began to question it. He thought the nukes would lead to more peace. He thought seeing 200k die they would never want to see that happen again world wide not build up more weapons like that.
we been to the moon once he thought it would be more like that but him realizing how wrong he was

That was the point which was pretty much confirmed when kitty asked Oppenheimer if he thought becoming a martyr in the deposition would make the world forgive him

exactly
He wanted that pain. He literally faced his demons in that room from the affair, to the bomb, to communist accusations or accusations that he handled it poorly. Him seeing his friends and associates show doubt in his loyalty when he gave his life to the project
People saying this boring is blowing my mind lmao you don’t edit a film like with that type of score and have it be “boring” it’s literally impossible first hour of the film was literally a montage
Really loved that montage feel with the macro shots
First half of this movie was mad disorienting. Stacked with characters, locations and s*** happening. Found it hard to get into at first. I couldn't hear a damn thing these mfs were saying either
The bomb scene was incredible IMO. It was dead quiet in my theatre, which added to the gravity of the scene
Second half is where the movie really shines. The RDJ villain reveal was fantastic and so well executed. The hearings added an energy to the movie that I (surprisingly) didn't feel was there during the actual building of the bomb
Cillian Murphy was fantastic throughout. Strongest performance I've seen in a long time. Get that man a best actor nom
tldr; not my favourite Nolan movie by a long shot but one of his most technically impressive/capital F films with some of the best performances in a Nolan movie since Heath in TDK

Yeah, and I think the people that missed the point of Strauss’s final monologue about Oppenheimer are the same ones who might be saying this is “glorifying a monster”. In reality Nolan was very honest in showing that Oppenheimer very strategically crafted his image - I heard several people comment on how lost they were during this part of the film lol. Maybe better audio mixing on the dialogue would’ve helped tho
Guy said interstellar was one of his worst
Followed by Batman his best lol
Fake 2001 starring gay cowboy
Heat but with Batman and Joker
Sorry you go with what the world tells you to support. It’s why you’re a NE fan, doubt you’re anywhere near Foxboro loser

this amount of hate on a chill Sunday

Nolan finally stepping out of his comfort zone

I mean even earlier in the film the man directly says "you are more of a politician now you don't have the time"

I mean kind of. I think it’s hard because Oppi himself was a paradoxical character / person. So I think yes. And I think no. And I think that’s point.
a 10/10 classic could be salvaged from the 3hr theatrical cut
its still f***ing phenomenal though
agree with someone earlier— should have shown the aftermath of hiroshima and nagasaki — other than that absolutely no notes
i hope nolan’s next film is the most absurd tenet/inception style action film lmao
i will go see whatever he puts out forever
also on the death of jean y'all think she was killed right? Like to get at Oppenheimer but its shown where either possibility happened
She was a card carrying communist she was 1000% killed
Why is Oppie speaking German instead of Dutch in the beginning in Leiden?
Big mistake for such a huge production
S*** wasn’t even German either. It was straight gibberish lol. Apparently there was some s*** cut from the scene and they had to add multiple speech tracks together.
