Cookies is right that this is an actual phenomenon, but it most likely won't come back. The fracturing of monoculture in the age of information has rendered true artistic movements of the past useless.

Why not rap like your favorite rapper from Houston just because you're from Harlem? With the internet and social media, cultural lines are not only blurred but they're evaporated, and it was those same lines that allowed for artistic movements of the past

There’s plenty of art on the internet and definitely some movements. Anime and nostalgic art styles have been influential as well as fashion. Usually I find some value in your weird deep-esque threads but this ain’t it. Even memes are our art

Why don’t you see anything in this? Coould you point me to some of those movements? And memes don’t really affect music positively and are used terribly (that’s why cole said some niggas make millions other niggas make memes)

Every generation before us had some vibrant impressive or at least underground art movement that shaped music. We don’t have that. There are a few good upcoming artists but nothing to be called. Music reflects art but there’s no art. So we imitate entertainment which can hold no true artistic value or meaning. It’s strange to see in real time. Many of you will complain and say I’m wrong but you don’t know any better.
Will we literally be the blank generation?

Ima need examples of all the art movements that coincided w music during each generation

there's no collective new 'thing' other than a saturated industry

as a result, art movements exist, but are sparse and there's no one 'big' thing

I think music has become to centralized and easily accessible. You use to have to download a mixtape then put it on a usb or directly to your phone to have it there

more subpar movements than no movements. richard saw blank generationism as cool DIY rimbaud-type punk glamour, so in either case we can just... make our own.

loop there is most of our movements suck. the gatekeeping aristocracy must return and hold sincere authority !

what about the 90s and early 2000s tho?

Or like for genres like rap music where it’s more of a reflection of life than art ?
