It’s no coincidence many musicians back then were art students/ were aware of the art scenes
I can into more detail a bit later if you’d like or to not bump a dead thread I’ll @ you in another since you seem genuily intrested
ur right
i always see artists like king krule basing a lot of their artwork off s*** by basquiat and the like
what about the 90s and early 2000s tho?
Or like for genres like rap music where it’s more of a reflection of life than art ?
Transgressive art and street art
If Future saying “i just f***ed ur b**** in some gucci flip flops” isn’t art then art aint s***
If Future saying “i just f***ed ur b**** in some gucci flip flops” isn’t art then art aint s***
that line was inspired by the dada art movement
Pretty clear you dont pay attention to the art scene
more subpar movements than no movements. richard saw blank generationism as cool DIY rimbaud-type punk glamour, so in either case we can just... make our own.
loop there is most of our movements suck. the gatekeeping aristocracy must return and hold sincere authority !

I mean how can you say our generation have no art simply because contemporary artists are not force fed to us like picasso or warhol? if anything this thread showcases laziness
i agree op
young artists are only drawing from entertainment/low art (memes etc) and only taking from the aesthetic element of high art.
they have visuals that look cool but without any high art concepts to back it up, thats why there are loads of cool looking artists making samey generic music.
hope that dont sound pretentious

Brockhampton was a good blueprint actually. I feel they should have actually shouted out ktt more honestly but that’s just my opinion
