they really hate to see it. Instead of wondering what's wrong with the modern music industry they will do all type of mental gymnastics to deny the obvious.
The fact that so many people used to sell more than 500k back then before the streaming era .... And now despite all the bundles, the streaming and exploit they're doing to boost their numbers, most of these so called "superstars" can't even crack 300K tell you everything you need to know.
the story is that it has increased. on the trajectory it seems to be on feels like it will continue to increase as well
They're saying by 2030 the percent could reach 76%
Honestly makes sense feels like the audience for new music isn't as dominant or big. It could also be more spread out than before but i sense that is not the main case. No ones really doing big numbers that often
Not surprised, mainstream music is not what it used to be and finding old albums is way easier now due to streaming and digital purchases.

this is just how streaming works
under the old system I have to purchase a copy of the album for $10 to listen to it
this counts as 1 album sale first week
with streaming I have to listen to songs from that album 1,250 times within the first week for it to count as 1 album sale first week
that's 60+ hours of listening in ONE week otherwise it doesnt count as a full album sale
so what happens instead is that you get album sales spread out over a longer period as people keep listening to it over time
it's why Lil Baby is still selling 20k a week with My Turn even though it did less than 200k first week
a lot of yall are SO desperate to push narratives itt you just pay 0 attention to how the music industry has changed
None of the big artists have dropped since the pandemic. Now that they are allowing shows again we already have announcements for Post and a pseudo announcement for Drake. Those two albums alone will lower the 66% figure in OP.
Most people are adults, adults like music from when they were younger, makes sense
Most people are not adults u idiot
Imagine listening to these bums when I can just listen to Da Drought 3
"I know you see the glock but getting money is what we on..."
There are more children than adults bro
there absolutely are not lmfao

The worst part is probably how hard their sales drop the second week, it's almost like people juck check out most of these albums out of curiosity or hype and never touch them again.
If steaming wasn't there a lot of these people wouldn't really be s***. You have songs going #1 then the next week it's nowhere to be found on the charts, people releasing 232 versions of the same song just to boost their sales and all these shady tactics stans are doing to cheat music charts.
Poptimists will keep defending this s***, but i've never been more disgusted and repulsed by mainstream/pop music, i don't even checkout new release anymore.
There are more children than adults bro
bro how would that be possible
Nobody buys a gunna record
They stream it
Which is why it doesn’t stick with people.
S*** take. Other steamed rabbits do stick
yep cause new music is dead rn
inb4 the mfs taking about you ain’t looking hard enough
Your not looking harder enough lol
