For example, a July survey from Business Insider, in partnership with YouGov, found that just 39% of Gen Z said advancing their education was important to them, and 46% of them did not think going to college was worth the cost.
One 22-year-old previously told BI that she decided to drop out of college after just a few months because she saw that the business courses she was paying for were topics she could teach herself, and she hasn't looked back since.
i went to nephuniversity
Really? I can only speak for tech (software engineering), but it feels like it used to be a lot easier to get a job without a degree than it is now

what are business degrees worth for the job market? seems like that’s a common major
This country damn near unlivable now unless you’re super rich
capitalism working exactly as intended
So is mine, but it feels like a few years ago doing a coding bootcamp was actually a decent move. Now that s*** is burnt out
can't tell if ops cryhah is happy or sad lmao

That s*** worked with a pandemic economy. Now all of the new hires are getting let go lol

Isn’t it still relatively easy with something entry level like web dev without a cs degree?
By simply having a strong portfolio of projects and ability to prove that you know how to solve problems through coding

I couldn’t tell you for sure, but I’ve heard of a lot of people becoming disillusioned with boot camp type things
The idea of do a couple projects to get hired and self teach yourself is known by almost everyone now, so the expectations are higher
And tbh that s*** is hard! I couldn’t have done that

Doesn't mean much until you decide to do something with it (requires social & emotional intelligence + networking).
Most non-STEM degrees are like this in America, basically you need a graduate education or go home.

as someone with a bachelor’s degree the whole american university system is stupid to me but it’s a necessary evil depending on what you want to do
Gen z is way too internet savvy to have this mentality. They can’t rely on the same old excuses by millennials and such talking about they didn’t know any better
They have too much information and too many resources at their disposal to not know about how many affordable degree options there are. You do not have to go to NYU for your useless literature degree.

They slave to the algorithms and got s***ty attention span.
Internet during millenials era was more fun because you could discover new s*** in it but now they are content with what the algorithms show them.
They also can't type for s***, they only good at scrolling
Unfortunately the job market still values a degree
exactly. you learn nothing in college, but the degree does represent the work you put in and as a qualification of skill. for company’s that will always be more valuable than “i learned it online and didn’t soend years practicing!”, no matter if the skills are equal. people saying “drop out!” don’t actually understand what the degree means
