    There are

But it's the highest rated because it got 100% and the most reviews

    Ah gotcha, that's crazy

    Nope

I’m sure it’s a decent movie but it’s definitely no Citizen Kane, just like how 99.9999% of movies in this era aren’t even half as good as that

Love Citizen Kane for what it did to cinema. Probably one of the most important movies of all time.

That being said I would never rewatch it because outside of the technical aspects it bored me

    Does hold up insanely well

It's also just because newer movies got more reviews, so it's recency bias aswell

Ain’t hating on it, I just know from what critics gas up, it’s usually just never even half as good as they’re claiming

For example, Leave no Trace has a 100% on RT and it literally has like 6-7 less reviews than paddington 2. Watching it, it’s a solid one time watch. Far from this masterpiece it’s being claimed to be.

Paddington 2 is one of the best sequels of all time.

    100 % on rt =/= 10/10

it means 100% of critics liked it to some degree

Oh it’s got a very high meta critic score as well. It’s not just liked by critics. It’s nearly averaging 9/10, so yes it’s legitimately being treated as a masterpiece by critics when it’s just a slightly better than usual typical Sundance indie flick.

conservatives won’t like any movie praised by critics lol. The liberal bias is actually blatant nowadays. Biggest reason why I don’t care anymore about rotten tomatoes or most modern film journalism. That one Never, Rarely Sometimes Always movie basically told a story about a woke liberals tweet rant about how hard it is to get an abortion and it got a 99% on RT lmao

Idk about any of that tbh but I think I heard there was a big liberal storyline in this and just figured that was part of why it was reviewed this high. I do think that’s kind of odd but I also hate conservatives

I don’t lean conservative by any means but it does bother me greatly about how the barometer for a film being considered “great” nowadays is just because it serves as an echo chamber for you now. There’s barely any craft to most of these highly praised movies anymore.

lmfao there are more filmès are better than Paddington coming from Rotten Tomatoes

idk how people haven't gotten past this yet. its just a percentage of critics you said they "enjoyed" the film

Paddington 2 is one of those movies where its rare or almost impossible to find that one guy who said they didn't at least enjoy watching it. there's no random hate for it or anything. Also very little thats actually wrong with the film so it just ends up with high marks
