    Dawg what the f***?

Odd to characterize it as a cash grab when it had such a clear purpose. Extended the story perfectly and filled details from the original book that the first film couldn’t get to like Vitos background

Got pretty much the same acclaim and went right back to win best picture as a sequel. Cash grabs typically have no solid purpose but this clearly did

Yeah if it's a cash grab bc they made it to make money then the first one is too that makes no sense

Yall? Lmao that’s Rosebud ass tripping. Nigga ain’t even seen the movie yet swear up and downn it’s mid

Most recent movies with 99-100% type critical reception is mid af b

That’s how it is. Leave no Trace got like 5-6 less reviews than Paddington 2 with a 100% and it’s barely better than your usual Sundance movie

    100 % on rt =/= 10/10

it means 100% of critics liked it to some degree

literally named 2 american movies that fit the bill of being mid. I can keep going I mean. Lady Bird, Eighth Grade, Selma are all pretty unspectacular as well.

Foreign films are absolutely a different standard because most of the time they aren't getting reviewed at the level these hollywood movies are and not too mention many times its very different critics covering them.

Boredom is rarely a good argument. Actually, it’s not an argument at all. I wasn’t bored by it, lots of people aren’t so what does that mean? Is it intrinsically boring? No, because lots of people aren’t bored watching it and they even enjoy it. You are. Other people are too. So clearly, the problem is your attention span and the fact that you’re not used to films with a slow pacing. We’re not talking about a Tsai Ming Liang film. It’s not a form of “slow cinema” but it has a slow pace which wasn’t unusual back in the days.

Also that comparison with J Cole is cringe-worthy. “Citizen Kane” isn’t simply a great film from a technical standpoint, it’s also a truly profound look on capitalism, liberal individuality and journalism.

What you named? Only caught you say Leave No trace, which I thought was really well done

And it was a sundance movie so it kinda confuses whatever insult u said about it lol

Haven’t seen those others so can’t weigh in (unlike how you operate ) but I will say I did attempt to watch Lady Bird and was bored outta my mind

Think these are all the recent films that qualify. Only included English language films and no documentaries

    100%
    Leave no trace
    Mickey and the bear
    Paddington 2

    99%
    Eighth grade
    Lady bird
    Selma
    Miss Juneteenth
    Never rarely sometimes always
    Saint Frances
    Shaun the sheep
    Song of the sea
    Starred Up (UK flick)
    The tale

I also named Never, Rarely Sometimes Always

These lazy ass Sundance movies just get this praise because they serve as an echo chamber for these liberal ass critics

And I have seen all these movies. Can’t really say I expect much outta Paddington 2 especially when kids movies have long had a habit of getting overrated to death by critics
