absolutely fascinating, it’s like listening to that one song you like but there are more of them
i feel like listening to just singles has been a thing since like itunes came out tbh not everyone listens to albums like that i didn't really get into it that much until i was in middle school
I don’t even know what to say
I don’t think this is uncommon for people who casually listen to music or grew up on playlists. A lot of my friends became diehard music lovers in their early 20s and didn’t learn about this until they discovered classic albums
I didn’t start listening to albums in full until I was like 16 and I didn’t make the connection of the entire project being a connected piece until I was like 18 after taking some L lmfao
I could only listen to music by albums because I didn't have an ipod lol. I just listened to my disc player. I also didn't drive until 18, so my attachment to the radio never connected

Nah it’s not uncommon. Like I said, music is not a major part of most people’s lives. Even if it is, a lot of people don’t listen to albums, just singles they come across on social media/radio/TV, songs they Shazam, songs they repeatedly hear that they like that they remember a certain lyric and google later, playlists, recommendations from friends.
But I guess you knew everything about music the first time you pressed play lmfao

Tbh, I think it's always been a thing.
In fact, in the late 90's/early 00's era, tons of people only bought albums off the strength of the singles or even just the lead single.
