My boys are all 4-5 years older than me and all the time they're bringing up s*** from their adolescence and HS years and whenever i mention how they live in the past they get defensive
Same with an ex she would always be so caught up in the past.
You too caught up in the past you miss the future
Being too caught up in the past misses the PRESENT
There is no future, the future is just as much as a illusion as the past. If you are always looking forward, you miss the now.
You’re 100% correct lol. If you’re pushing 30-40 and always reflecting on your high school days, you peaked in high school lol
Sometimes I think I live in the moment too much. I’ve had a great life and a lot of great experiences and I often feel like I don’t recognize that enough. I get too caught up in my day-to-day emotions and can’t appreciate the big picture.
nostalgia is good in small doses
it is cool to think back to a certain memory
like you also got to appreciate and enjoy moments that are worth remembering, nothing wrong with that
you go on vacation to make lasting memories, no one is gonna crucify you if years later you think back to those moments or memories
the present is equally important and odds are you gonna eventually think back to the present (2023) just as nostalgically, you just can't see it from that angle yet..
so truly enlightening is knowing every moment is worth remembering and living, especially the present
While I do agree that there's something to be said about obsessing over nostalgic moments, some people do have a particular relationship to memory and how memory permeates their life and how the production of memories impacts how they navigate life.
Wrong. I can be nostalgic for times when I had less responsibilities and still lead a great life in the present. Sound like you are projecting.
Blows my mind when people be saying s*** like “2015 was the best year”
Feel like every year is better than the last
2013, 2015 and 2010
It doesn’t work like that
People can experience nostalgia without living in the past
But this perspective doesn't make for a hit thread
We been living in a culture of nostalgia ever since 9/11 @op everyone miserable get with the times
Depends on what you're nostalgic for. If you're 30 and miss high school yeah you prob have some things to work on.
If you're 30 and miss when your only responsibility was cleaning your room and watching cartoons you're just a normal person.

2019 was absolute ass

We ain't all miserable
Life too short to be miserable for the sake of being miserable
My homie had a party a few years back and a dude that was really popular in high school and fell the f*** off afterward was there asking people s*** like "who was the hottest girl in our graduating class" and we were looking at him crazy af lol like dawg we're 25 years old.
