Similar to the dog thread, but I want a cat.

I travel A LOT, I'm usually back and forth between LA and DC. I know Cats aren't as demanding as dogs, but how is it traveling with a Cat at home.

I travel for weeks at a time*

I wouldn’t buy a pet just to leave it alone for weeks at a time, just wait till you live a more stable life

if you don't have enough time to stay at home most of the week why even buy the cat? it won't be a burden necessarily but just consider if you'll even really be spending time with it. If not, don't get it

depends, some cats cannot diet themselves especially if they grew up rough

mine does though i just put food in the bowl water in the dish and she’s good to go

  • Nov 14, 2021

Cats are a lot easier, you don't have to take them outside
That being said, you can't just feed them and change their litter box.
You need to take care of their hygiene - clip their nails once a month or two , brush their teeth not too frequently
If you love your cat you will buy them new toys to play with and stuff, too

: ( idk if I’d like leaving my cat alone for that long even with an automatic feeder and litterbox

If something health issue happens I wouldn’t be able to watch it unless I stick lil monitors everywhere

Cat litter is a problem if it doesn’t go outside when I had a cat. They s*** like magic. They could eat a little and take a huge dump, it doesn’t make sense. Like they find it from somewhere and bury it in the box. 😒

  • Nov 14, 2021

It's probably more of an emotional burden to have 1 cat than 2

Just buy s*** in bulk though lol

My cat is an outside cat and 0 burden

  • Nov 14, 2021

No burdens besides them waking me up in the middle of the night for food lol. I have 3

  • Nov 14, 2021

You should provide it lots of scratching posts and stuff so it scratches that n not the furniture

My gf has 2 cats, they can be super clingy when they wanna be but I feel like unlike dogs they tend to f*** off. Just don't declaw them that's what makes them a******s cause they have no defense mechanism, it's also painful.

Just make sure you keep them stimulated like a cat doesn't like to just eat food and drink water, they wanna earn it

I prefer cats to dogs as they can be more random and curious, just make sure you either make your cat an inside cat or an outside cat they can't be both and if an inside cat gets out it'll be hard for them to get home. Like you can't leave a cat alone for too long, also make sure you get a good litter system, i think the filtering ones are great

    Also outside cats eat birds

Yea don't do this, it f***s up cats immensely. By doing this your taking away a lot of their freedom, mobility and just what makes them as cat it's a whole sense.

As long as you have a scratching post you're good, cats are far more easy to train, and tend to listen to house rules better than dogs
