So it's definitely a go then

  • I could never get into Persona 5 because I didn't really like the school setting. Do all the games have a school settin? Maybe I'll try that Metaphor game they got releasin

    Was either this or white

    Was either this or white

I think the first two were black and white but Atlus doesnā€™t treat them like they exist anyways

Real talk though, they gotta stop with the adult/teen romance options in 6.

Especially egregious in 5 given the first villain you fight is pursuing underage students.

Bro im saying, i was actually baffled when i saw the romance option when looking for a guide, for example Takemi, Chihaya and maybe questioning Ohya but otherwise they are all good since the protagonist is almost 18 and are outside of his social circle but wtf is romancing a secret MAID teacher from you class and mfers will defend it too

They move like 5 years before current societal norms so you may get ur wish. Not a guarantee

  • Finished P4G

    Overall thoughts:

I think the best way to describe it is that the game feels like a really good deep cut. Like, it doesnā€™t have the epic overarching plot of P3R or the swashbuckling noir mystery of P5, but everything feels more genuine. More real. Comforting.

The investigation team feel closest in contrast to the SEES or Phantom Thieves. I think a big part of that is because the MC feels more equal to his peers ā€” there were a number of scenes that would take place and Iā€™d be like, damn, the MC feels like a side character here! Stark contrast to P3R where MC is quite clearly Persona Jesus, and P5 is the sleuth dungeon king.

The MC is just a dude (admittedly with Persona protag charisma tax where every bad b**** wants him) who just wants to chill with his little cousin/sister and teach a cute goth girl about fsteak. šŸ«”

I think the two biggest criticisms I have of the game are proof that the game is a victim to being a bit of a relic of time. These being: 1. Dungeon design, and 2. Teddie being disgustingly pervy in like every single scene.

I think in the grand scheme of things, Iā€™ll probably rank the three games: P3R > P5*** > P4G.

But I also think itā€™s a little bit unfair on P4G to even make the comparison: itā€™s a 2012 game being compared to the only game they specifically made for the new gen consoles and a 2024 remake of an original.

    *** = I havenā€™t played P5R. Maybe I will at some point, because I do feel Iā€™ve forgotten a lot of the P5 nuances

its time to make history is still all time great BGM, even in the context of an entirely different game man

as someone who's primarily playing this during streams, I may not be the best representative here, but I got like 51 hours and its only the middle of august lmao

think I put in like 120-140ish in the portable version, but there's a ton of idle time in that too. Glad I'm getting real money's worth out of it though

I think this was always inevitable, but it wasn't going to ever be of higher priority than doing right by the trilogy that elevated the series to where it's at (this being primarily aimed at the ppl pissed that those two got a raw deal from Atlus for years)

1 and 2 are also going to need VERY imaginative remakes to fit within how us P3 and later players view the series.

  • Apr 14

I would hope they give us 6, then give it like 3 years and give us 1 remake

I think P4G's series of ports to modern consoles came out about 3-4 years after P5 OG, and P4G debuted about 4 years after P4, so it's a similar time frame.

It's cool. I'm trying hard not to think about persona 5 the whole time lol. Like I understand this is a remake, it's going to be a step down. But my brain keeps going "they did this better in 5" gotta rewire my thoughts on it.

I like the protagonist a lot though. He can be a complete a******.

I like the blue color scheme.
And only having 3 social stats to improve is great. Idk if I care about social links as much in this one though. Probably only going to max a couple out.

I'm gonna stick with it and see how the story goes for a bit.

Ik this post is from 2 months ago, but this is the hardest thing that I battle with too. This game has done a great job of putting it in P3 stans face how much better Atlus gotten with designing the "extras". The social links in this game, while there's some deeper subject material for some, largely suck IMO. esp in that huge batch you get early

definitely seems like a quantity vs quality thing with them giving you so many at once and it apparently being damn near impossible to max out all of them in your first playthrough. I think you're just supposed to find the ones you rock with and calling it a day

Is there a thread for their new title Metaphor? Or is it being discussed here (or anywhere)? Looks pretty interesting

Yeah, but thatā€™s just natural progression, really. I think P5 is quite obviously on another stratosphere with dungeon designs, QoL, things to pad your evenings with etc. but I still found the overarching story of P3 to be stronger.

I think a significant portion of people who played Persona 3 think that. I just donā€™t think it can matter that much if everything else is so much better, and at least to me, it feels like that.

Now, the gap is a lot closer to the point where I donā€™t think those differences feel like hindrances anymore. I can play P3R, and Tartarus doesnā€™t feel like a job or chore. The soundtrack isnā€™t too repetitive. The fighting system is 100x smoother. Having the SLs voiced and giving you the individual events w the party members helps

That earlier post wasnā€™t meant to s*** on P3, itā€™s just pointing out that thereā€™s some loud things that still result in P5R being our king

  • Man, the Kenji social link is so f***ed up.

Youā€™re actively deluding this dude the entire time like a psycho.
