Outside of putting together great fits in his prime What has Ye actually done FASHION wise and not sneaker wise lol. Homeless Star Wars clothes that look cool on him but ridiculous on everyone else

His aesthetic wouldn’t fit LV, he’d try to remake it in his image and then go on an Instagram rant when people…didn’t want that lol. Virgil reinvigorated LV while keeping it it’s own thing that’s not just Pyrex/Off White 2.0

so idk if you can even really separate shoes from fashion like that’s just kinda unfair, shoes are fashion so he clearly has success in fashion.

but if we want to talk about clothing yea maybe he hasn’t sold the most “clothes” bottoms and tops, but at the same time, all of his lowkey none “high end” stuff sells. what i have in mind with this tho is merch which is largely diff. the other examples would be his GAP collabs and APC(might have ducked this brand name up) collab. the calabasas adi pants sold out too tho. and his influence is second to none in terms of hip-hops audience.

Answer the question. He’s never made some actual clothes that were popping his sneakers are his only meaningful contribution in apparel

If I’m wrong then what did he contribute clothing product wise once we’re past his 2000’s-early 2010’s influence on rap aesthetic in general

The gap bubble jacket is the only clothing (non footwear) piece you mentioned that was a hit IMO. Being able to curate good sneakers does not make you LV creative director worthy. The APC s*** was one of the most ridiculous things ever lol. Aside from that it’s all been Star Wars esque clothes that go on discount quietly lol.

How so? Of white, Pyrex and post Virgil LV have all distinctly different aesthetics. Although now that his influence is a “thing” and he isn’t here anymore to curate it may all blend together

Kanye never even mass produced his Yeezy line. The Gap collab was the first mass produced Yeezy clothing and it was a massive success. All that s*** sold out

it's still a fair point, you can like the clothes that ye makes while also acknowledging that over the past 10+ years his style and fashion has drifted so far away from what LV would want.

Yall understand that this is the vision for Yeezy as a brand? Virgil's stuff with Off-white doesn't look like his stuff with LV. As a creative director, you work with the vision of the brand you're working on

I swear all of y'all who keep denying Pharrell and his influence on fashion.

A simple 44 min video like this could shut y'all asses up about this convo

No one's denying his influence as a fashion icon but is he a good fashion designer? His most notable work and influence comes from over a decade ago. His work from the past 10 years has all been mediocre at best. Show me anything Pharrell has done fashion wise in the last 10 years that's interesting

Some of the pieces are cool Jar Jar but overall nobody rocking this s*** lol. And the point is that either way this doesn’t match LV’s aesthetic and Ye would try to basically turn it into a variation of this lol. That’s not what the job is supposed to be

    Yeezy Gap nigga

All I’ve seen released is the shades and the bubble jacket. Are y’all being fr lol. If he wasn’t Kanye it would be ridiculous for someone who only dropped what he has apparel wise (not considering sneakers) to even be in this conversation. Like saying Tinker Hatfield should run YSL because he made some cool jackets lol.

Pastelle jacket is his best piece he’s ever done and it never officially came out lol. Ironically the years he spent complaining and calling Sway and Charlemagne stupid he could have built Pastelle into what Virgil eventually created with Off White that got him into LV position, luxury streetwear.

Bro he's dropped an entire line of clothing with Gap. They got multiple shirts, hoodies, bags, etc. See you don't even know what u talking about. I think he didn't get that LV position for a lot of different reasons. Kanye has had his own success with Yeezy so he didn't need to make an off-white

Why do you assume Kanye is a one dimensional designer This is the vision for Yeezy as a brand. Coming to LV, he would work with the vision of that brand and bring something different. Off-white don't look like Virgil's LV stuff

Yall still running this narrative? He gets collabs because he delivers good product which sells. If all you needed was a name then Beyonce's recent Adidas line wouldn't have just flopped and cost them 100s of millions

Nigga this is American Apparel s*** with weird proportions. Lmao there are no designs or unique pieces he just makes essential outfit basics in earth tones under the guise of “minimalism”. This earns him the right to run LV? Lol

Fam you’re proving my point while trying to argue something different from what I’m saying lol. From the jump I’ve said Ye has succeeded in sneakers so idk why you’re comparing Ivy Park to my point about his apparel which adidas didn’t really do with Kanye after the first few collections because it was going on sale lol.

You’re proving my point in that Adidas wouldn’t spend 100’s on millions of a line from someone who has never done anything in fashion if she wasn’t Beyoncé Knowles. Gap wouldn’t give a nigga hundreds of millions to make American Apparel s*** with weird proportions unless he is also a generational trend setting rapper lol. The s*** sucks dude lol
