Why do you assume Kanye is a one dimensional designer This is the vision for Yeezy as a brand. Coming to LV, he would work with the vision of that brand and bring something different. Off-white don't look like Virgil's LV stuff

Because he’s been recycling that same aesthetic for most of the last decade sans a few phases where he slightly deviated like the big boots and tank tops bullshit lol

Nigga this is American Apparel s*** with weird proportions. Lmao there are no designs or unique pieces he just makes essential outfit basics in earth tones under the guise of “minimalism”. This earns him the right to run LV? Lol

Bro the first pic is not even the released collection lmfao. You don't even know what u talking about. It's more than just the look that Yeezy is going for. It's the proportions of the clothing and the quality. Some of the best quality clothing at a somewhat affordable price. We'll never know what Kanye could've done at LV but using Yeezy as an idea is just wrong bro. Kanye would of undoubtedly brought a different look to LV. Why would he make Yeezy looking clothes for product that isn't Yeezy. Be for real. If you're cool with niggas like Virgil and Pharrell then you should be cool with Kanye

Fam you’re proving my point while trying to argue something different from what I’m saying lol. From the jump I’ve said Ye has succeeded in sneakers so idk why you’re comparing Ivy Park to my point about his apparel which adidas didn’t really do with Kanye after the first few collections because it was going on sale lol.

You’re proving my point in that Adidas wouldn’t spend 100’s on millions of a line from someone who has never done anything in fashion if she wasn’t Beyoncé Knowles. Gap wouldn’t give a nigga hundreds of millions to make American Apparel s*** with weird proportions unless he is also a generational trend setting rapper lol. The s*** sucks dude lol

Oh you're saying that Kanye got to his position because of his name? You could say the same about Pharrell being named LV creative director lol. Sure maybe he got his foot in the door because he's Kanye but he got to where he's at due to the undeniable success of his product. Gap doesn't have to pay 100s of millions to promote Yeezy, Adidas had to with Beyonce only to flop. Idk what point you're even trying to make anymore

Bro this is such an idiotic take. Look at the Yeezy 350 moonrocks vs the Yeezy shoes today. Look at Yeezy season 1 vs Yeezy season 8. There is evolution. A brand follows a vision/aesthetic and builds upon it, that's always been how it is. Has Kanye ever been the creative director of another brand? How could you possibly know what he would do with another brand's vision?

Because he hasn't done s*** with his own vision except curate dope sneakers which ain't run a fashion house worthy lol

I'll agree that Pharrell kinda ain't exactly overqualified either but his aesthetic that he's curated over the past 20 years and counting fits closer with what LV likely wants to communicate. Kanye gon wanna have niggas in black Missy Elliot suits and spongebob boots and then get on IG and @ the whole board of directors and expose their investments in private owned prisons when they're like nah lol. He probably would have tripped and fell into this position if he hadn't made so many odd choices both as a voice in the media and stylistically over the past 10 years lol

I'm saying the vision of Yeezy is not gonna be the same vision with LV. Cmon now bro. U just being deliberately obtuse. Off-white doesn't look anything like Virgil's stuff with LV. If you think niggas like Virgil and Pharrell deserve to be in that position then you really can't argue against Kanye lmfao

what do you think most designers do?

are we gonna pretend like Hedi Slimane didn’t just repeat the same atheistic from Dior to SLP to Celine?

well for one kanye was the king of ... not doing that aesthetically in the 2000's. every two or so years he switched his aesthetic until he got the adidas deal lol.

he's not hand designing each piece, he's giving a direction and general vision and design teams are executing. that vision hasn't changed or gone beyond that homeless sci fi aesthetic since the 2015 show lol. and it's not really an aesthetic tbh it's essential clothing pieces with weird proportions. nigo has an aesthetic that has similar themes over 30+ years but it's a fleshed out vision (so much so that they just gave pharrell this job partially for being the first nigga to like it in public lmao). ye is just printing blank shirts hoodies and sweatpants that only look cool when its a sea of mfs wearing it at his runway shows lol

maybe i have too much of a streetwear lens to where clothes should have actual...designs and patterns? lmao s*** reminds me of the yeezus promo run where he was like "i made an album that had no music as a protest" its like nigga at what point do these become gimmicks to hide that you can't make good s*** without some weird rule or mission statement lol. niggas would have eventually said pastelle was outdated/cheesy like bape so lets focus on making weird proportioned blank essentials in earth tones under the guise of "minimalism"? lol

Virgil isn’t in this conversation. He created a whole new design language before LV between Nike x Virgil Abloh and Off White

Pharrell makes more sense than Ye just naturally off of his aesthetic (bright colors and more eccentric stylistically as opposed to Ye being the all black/earthtone dude) but yeah they’re definitely the same amount of unqualified I’m not arguing that

Bro virgil literally put words in quotation marks on existing sneaker models and you're calling that a new design language? lol. Virgil got a ton of ridicule when he was revealed to be taking over LV and his collection was also heavily critiqued. That f***ing Pop smoke cover lmfao. He also stole a lot of designs. It's only after death that Virgil is seen as this godly designer
