You gotta come with a valid rebuttal otherwise you're just d***riding
you reek of twitter talking points, from shade room ass users who never heard of Virgil until LV/Nike
half of which is straight up false
the other half is irrelevant to any meaningful design discussion
Bro virgil literally put words in quotation marks on existing sneaker models and you're calling that a new design language? lol. Virgil got a ton of ridicule when he was revealed to be taking over LV and his collection was also heavily critiqued. That f***ing Pop smoke cover lmfao. He also stole a lot of designs. It's only after death that Virgil is seen as this godly designer
“Quotation marks on existing nike models”
This is just straight up false. The Nike 10 was a pastiche deconstruction of the original pieces. There were tons of mini details and readjustments that went into each model. How he made the Jordan 1 even more detailed and personal whilst being nostalgic yet unfinished is a feat in itself.

It's not an entirely new design language as the other user put it

So again, you ain't actually opposing any of my points. I hate niggas like you that just say vague bullshit but don't actually want to have a discussion. Go on somewhere with that s***. Are you saying Virgil didn't steal designs? Are you saying people were happy when Virgil was chosen for LV? I remember how he was seen. I remember his collection getting hated on

Virgil introduced various aspects and design elements with Nike 10. Whether one would consider them a new design language is subjective. I personally felt some of the models really improved and brought a fresh concept to aged designs.
Also, Virgil’s appointment at LVMH was met with an overwhelming positive response considering he was the first African American to hold that position. You can always find a percentage of the internet being upset on any subject so I’m not sure what you mean. Their sales grew, the collections were vibrant and he bridged an extremely strong gap between streetwear heritage and luxury.
The Pharrell appointment is just an intermission until the next true successor.

I'm not knocking Virgil's achievements. He had his own design methods with the 3% rule but calling it a whole new "design language" is a bit ridiculous imo. The reason LV chose Virgil
is because he's the hot topic in streetwear and LV wanted to implement streetwear into their brand. People who were actually into fashion weren't happy with this decision cause before his death, he was super hated in the fashion field. He was criticized for being a bad designer but I feel like Virgil's greatest tool was his ability as a curator and director. You're seeing a similar pattern with LV choosing Pharrell. I just feel like if you're gonna say Kanye is unqualified, then you have to include Virgil and Pharrell in that space.
Outside of putting together great fits in his prime What has Ye actually done FASHION wise and not sneaker wise lol. Homeless Star Wars clothes that look cool on him but ridiculous on everyone else
His aesthetic wouldn’t fit LV, he’d try to remake it in his image and then go on an Instagram rant when people…didn’t want that lol. Virgil reinvigorated LV while keeping it it’s own thing that’s not just Pyrex/Off White 2.0
If we just putting influence aside and speaking only on the success of his apparel, then not much.
But I think it's pretty unfair to only hold him up to the standards of yeezy apparel, when most of his efforts have been prioritizing his footwear. I don't think prior to Gap his apparel was mass produced whatsoever just footwear via Adidas. And with the Gap, we started seeing his impact in that field, although short lived the Gap line was pretty successful.
And to ur other point about how Yeezy aesthetics would clash w LV, I think that's also unfair because yeezy aesthetics are meant to be that post-apocalyptic scifi feel because they're yeezy aesthetics. He would surely have a different aesthetic for a LV collection if he ever did one

Started to write a reply like this and just let dude have it lol. If he don’t see this then f*** it.
It was nothing that really looked like the Nike Ten collection before that collection. Not even getting into the public domain, canary yellow, etc collection of websites that have that same aesthetic. And then of course off white. Like off whites actual site looks f***ing crazy lol. He was a visionary even if he couldn’t make cover art
still seeing hypebeast publication try so hard to push Pharrell's design since the appointment but the only memorable thing were the millionaire sunglasses. Really exposes how 90% of his products are misses.
I think someone else the real designer and it's just a pr celebrity position at this point , had suspicion when Virgil.
Virgil actually went to school for design though. He might’ve not been sowing pieces but he was def creating the vision
Skateboard P is back
Man should’ve said skateboard P
How we feeling about P being on Epstein island?
Man everyone was on that half of Hollywood would be gone

That also begs the question, what has Pharrell done? If we're going through such lengths to minimize Kanye's success, let's apply to same to Pharrell. You'll soon find that Pharrell hasnt actually done anything plus failed to deliver a product that people want to buy. You gotta wonder if Kanye's at least doing something right when he built a multi-billionaire brand and created historic sales for Adidas and GAP.
And if we want to be even more objective, let's look at the images of human race and BBC. How do any of those directions qualify one as the lead creative director of LV more so than yeezy?
But yeah, let's put Yeezy seasons 3, 5, and 8 beside each other and have the audacity to call it a recycled design

Ye is definitely more qualified than Pharrell but his success was always more geared towards sneakers, both are facts. Maybe if he was a little more filtered he would’ve gotten positions at some houses but then he wouldn’t be Ye.
LVMH was just never meant to be.
Can anyone tell me what has Pharrell actually designed?
some garbanzo ass adidas
As we all expected Pharrell is on his way to single handedly ruin that trash ass brand doing the lord's work
