On second thought, Pikmin 4 isnโt a 4K @ 60FPS realistic gritty game thatโs rated mature!
Pikmin trash!
Game is more stable n technically impressive than anything native on the PS5 ironically
ALL ONIONS ARE NOW SECURED THE WHOLE SQUAD IS IN HERE NOW
Platinumed all the dandori battles and challenges now on my way to the Kingโs Cavern

Walked into a new dungeon floor & bro thinks he's sneaky
He wont move either lmao he's trying so hard with his big ass
Gonna have to wait a little to pick this up and this feels like the worst thing thatโs ever happened to me

Its ok it'll be there, it also has more content than the other 3 titles put together so it'll keep you busy for a long time when you finally get around to it
Holy s*** Louie's dog boss fight was so sick if it wasnt for Glow Pikmin I would have lost so hard
Word of advice (you will know youre there once youre there) bring YELLOW, PINK & PURPLE PIKMIN with enough room for 20ish GLOW to the fight. I wish I knew that sooner myself
๐ฑ JUST COMPLETED THE GAME ๐ฑ
It amazing man. I couldnt have hoped for more. My expectations were high, and they were highly surpassed. I have never been so satisfied from a long awaited release. Im so glad. Finished just under 50 HOURS.
Its a technical marvel as well. It was stable & steady the entire way. Not a single framedrop nor glitch. All the enviormental destruction, particle effects, multiple simultaneous AI logic & the sheer amount of assets rendered on screen at once is wild & on the Switch no less - which is basically 2 gen old tech at this point & part mobile. I did have one crash but that was on the demo, the actual game didnt crash at all. Been playing since it released on July 21st & I finished my first playthrough today - July 28th. The gameplay is great, the graphics is great, the sound design is great - its all just great and pushed the Switch to its absolute limit. Im still surprised its able to even run on it no wonder it took so long to come out.
๐ธ My overall review; mainly just stitching together stuff Ive said itt during playtime ๐ธ
Only thing you can argue the other ones over P4 is the tone of each entry & which tone/vibe you like more which each one def has its own feel - like P1 being the most serious & anxious, P2 being jokey & chaotic, P3 being really relaxed & P4 having a more cinematic streamlined feel. And the only "true negative" & downside of Pikmin 4 to me is all the talking especially in the first area, but once you get out of area 1 it mostly dies down. If too much talking is the only downside of a game then I think its in a pretty good position overall as a whole.
Only other potential negative is that I think Pikmin 3's lock on system and targeting is the best in the entire series. In P3 you can pick specific crucial & strategic body parts to hit on enemies & you can free aim so you have more room for set up etc. In P4 its really streamlined & to me its overtuned a bit too much, but its still fine & enjoyable.
The surface is mostly chilled out & laxxed like Pikmin 3, the dungeons are a difficult challenge & brain teasers like Pikmin 2, the later on side content brings the anxiousness & resource management of Pikmin 1, the night expeditions are entirely new that have its own difficulty curve & the dandori battles bring back the optional side modes of the old games but for the main game. Then theres this side content you also unlock later on in the game that is really difficult & frustrating but not necessary to do. Over half the stuff to do & see in the game isnt "needed" either for basic progression - so kids arent walled out the story & areas neither even if they dont want to do or cant get pass the harder content.
Its genius. So much of this game is just so damn clever. They really maxxed out all their time and delays man. Its an incredible feat & it genuinely feels like a proper "next gen" game for Nintendo which is a rare feeling from Nintendo these days. From gameplay to content to graphics.
And I love how natural & enjoyable completing every area to 100% is - the flow of doing so is so good you dont even think about it that often & theres no annoying chores or unnecessary goals/busywork n s*** with it. More games should take that in as inspiration & as an example.
Every Pikmin feels incredibly useful in this one with purpose - the balancing of having only 3 Pikmin types at a time helps a lot with that too, but also there is so much on the surface and in dungeons that genuinely uses every Pikmin type thoughtfully. The game gives every type a lot of time to shine individually along with tasks that only the specific type(s) can do.
The game is simply clever & fun โ
9.5/10 - 2023 GOTY ๐
Pikmin 2 is/was a top 10 game of all time for me & the best of the series, but Pikmin 4 might overtake it in both regards once i sit with it a bit. It is THE BEST NINTENDO SERIES, AND IM GLAD ITS GETTING ITS JUST-DUES ON THE MAINSTREAM STAGE FINALLY!
Shouts out all the day 1s that saw my downward spiral itt (& even the few on OG-KTT) regarding Pikmin 4 & then my subsequent upward spiral when it was finally revealed offcially - plus the people that have been apart of the thread for a long time & those that are just enjoying the Pikmin experience:
@Bazooe @butch22 @Stardust @LegendShkreli @wigg @rise_zero @ShintaroKago @Kabel @AwareYesterday @ShinNohara @maxxing @BBLDRIZZY @coat @Q3D @Chilla @SeattleZ12 @Makaveli842
And everyone else. We were blessed - the prophecy is finally - truly - finished & fullfied... UNTIL THE NEXT ADVENTURE
AND ALL MY HOMIES STILL HATE GAMESPOT
It was a hard 10 years but goddamn it really ended up being worth it
Im gonna miss the thread. Hopefully the next sequel doesnt take too long like with Pikmin 4 to be released, or potential DLC.
Miayamoto I will no longer fly to Japan to rob and whoop ur ass you sneaky clever b****** youre off the hook officially
I forgive u

Great review king
Bro I was already excited to play this but you just amped it 10x
Youre gonna def enjoy & be busy with it for a while, that 10 years + $60 really was worth it in the end - thank god
It has drop in and out local co-op as well so yall can play together
Word I'ma eventually get another switch and give her mine
Whoops game came out July 21st not July 23rd I fixed that mistake in my review above, doesnt even feel that long lmao.
Cant believe it took an entire week to beat a PIKMIN GAME bro, you could truly beat 1, 2 & 3 in the amount of time it takes to do everything in P4 s*** is so crazy the amount of content is so wild.
@Water_Giver happy youโre loving this game bro. Love to see a game deliver after f***in YEARS of delay
Been wanting to try this series but waiting for the physical of 1+2 and start there

I really won so hard bro it still feels like a dream

Ya dont have to play when in order they dont really follow a timeline its a loose canon, nor is it really story focused. Also I would say P3 Deluxe is the easiest to get into for a newcommer. Its the most straightfoward out the series & is the most linear.
Regardless tho theyre all good games, but if you do play in order and feel put off by P1 just drop it - then come back to P1 later after you played through another one. I would say thats the hardest to get into for a completely brand new newcommer.
Either way I HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM THEYRE AMAZING!
Another thing I think made this all the more sweeter is that I avoided ALL spoilers, leaks, rumors and extra trailers.
I only saw the 3 main trailers that are in my op - the logo reveal, the ice pikmin trailer and then the glow pikmin trailer with full gameplay reveal.
It really does make video games better guys. Other games Ive gone pretty much completely blind for games I was hyped for are stuff like Elden Ring (only saw the first two trailers), Witcher 3, Monster Hunter World & a few others & it made them SO much better.
Armored Core & Baldurs Gate 3 are the next games im going pretty much blind in. Only saw the logo trailer & the first gameplay trailer for AC & only saw some intial reviews of the original BG3 beta. Everything else Ive stayed away.
Its so good & how Im trying to be with most if not all games I really look forward too. Other games Im kinda or regular interested or not sure on I'll check things out more in depth & more less cautious, but for stuff Im legit excited for - nah I gotta go pretty much blind.
