Its not that bad
They gave the big day a 7 and that was way worse
Big Day deserved a 1
Not a 2.9 in any sense
Don’t like rating albums lower because of hype and expectations, especially if you’re a critic. The album is mid, about a 5-6.
Perhaps the most troubling thing about the album is how convinced/confident Jack was that it was a great body of work. That makes me wonder what his idea of "good" is and how far removed it is from what everyone else believes to be good.

Yeah that probably was the last really terrible album i remember hearing
But they gave that s*** a 7 so
When Pitchfork decides you made a bad album, it goes from a review to a roast. This isn't even the worst I've seen.
Depends on the writer
Cohen is always quick to try and go viral
Dombal is pretty balanced but I don’t think he writes as much these days
Jenkins was their go to writer for rap but now with Strauss he at least tells you why it’s bad without just saying he’s tired off the artist.

I refuse to even listen based off the singles but I do feel like some of the hate might be scripted to set up a redemption story
Drama was really bigging this guy up for what 🤣
Hes selling 135k fw and drama getting paid

The album is definitely average. I'd give it a 4/5 out of 10 if only because I know albums just as bad that Pitchfork has given a 6 or 6.5.

His first album was better imo. The hits hit better and did what it was supposed to for a debut. Deliver something promising. This album didn't do what the first album set up for it to do.
see this score is really proving the thing where in some cases it's worse to be mid than to be bad
He has to absolutely knock it out The park with his next album Kendrick taking the shine away is actually great so Jack can at least try to reinvent himself

I haven’t heard the album just a few songs so I can’t comment.
The observation from Strauss was literally the only reason I listened to the songs I did though. I was very impressed he percolated that into the review.
Pitchfork interest me in the actual review rather than the score. The score by their own admission isn’t set by the reviewer
Can’t even consider this a sophomore slump because his debut wasn’t even that good
