White people already coming in here throwing the word “poptimism” as a subtle slur for seeing more Black musicians in spots they felt their cracker rockstars should have been.

No Velvet Rope in this one dam

velvet rope wasnt even on the 2003 list (which is not an adjudication of its worth or value, just an observation)

why you named those 3 acts like they're bums and don't have MULTIPLE classic records bro bro?
i ain’t going through this list…i’ll save myself the mental headache
you like good music and there's good music on there.
Vast majority of criticisms itt really amount to “they should have put women lower” and p4k has the reactionary position.,,
Whatever notion of canon people think is ‘more accurate’ almost certainly comes from a male-biased perspective of music history.

Cause they aint better than Juicy, the greatest rap song of all time
no sorry I'm wrong being skeptical about the motivations of a publication owned by a huge media conglomerate is wrong

Pitchfork almost certainly has more women staffed than they did in the past. Vast revisions are to be expected. Music criticism and this sort of cultural discourse in general used to be very much a boys club, much in same way sports journalism used to work (and to a degree still does). Obviously, some of the readership still needs to catch up, but I believe it’ll happen.
