No Velvet Rope in this one dam

im just tryna strike a balance between the stuff they were d***riding 20 years ago and the stuff they are championing now

velvet rope wasnt even on the 2003 list (which is not an adjudication of its worth or value, just an observation)

Vast majority of criticisms itt really amount to “they should have put women lower” and p4k has the reactionary position.,,

Whatever notion of canon people think is ‘more accurate’ almost certainly comes from a male-biased perspective of music history.

why is violator, grace, mystic stylez, and repeater so low

  • Sep 28, 2022

Pitchfork almost certainly has more women staffed than they did in the past. Vast revisions are to be expected. Music criticism and this sort of cultural discourse in general used to be very much a boys club, much in same way sports journalism used to work (and to a degree still does). Obviously, some of the readership still needs to catch up, but I believe it’ll happen.
