I think Carti is mostly mid too but then he drops a masterpiece like h00dbyair and 2024 that's when I see the vision

I think it comes down to kids being tismed out nowadays & dumbed down music with no substance & that's utter brain rot appeals to them. Plain & simple.

Yup, feel the same way. Love S/T and Die Lit but I can't stand WLR. The annoying part is that he is very, very talented and could easily make class music. But he got a horrible fanbase who don't want to see him prosper and improve. They got zero standards and will hype anything so we are stuck with the BS he has been doing ever since WLR.
I like some of his recent features but I am always listening and thinking ''this is good but he got the talent to do so much more''. His solo stuff though ... Not good

  • Oct 5, 2024

new singles aren't amazing but I'll wait for the album to decide if he's fallen off some more

  • Oct 5, 2024

I don’t listen to him like that, but he did his thing on EARFQUAKE

I don’t rate him against most other MC’s cuz he’s not tryna be a traditionalist

He’s taking hip hop somewhere else, bit by bit

You know, you're right. I made that post last night while I was half asleep and I came back to it this morning. He's definitely in his own lane, but I do think he needs to put some more effort into some of his music. It feels like the whole culture around carti is based entirely around his image rather than music. Which is fine but he shouldn't be propped up as being a new school leader like he is right now if that's the case.

This is too real. His fan base is really why his career trajectory landed the way it did.

WLR and beyond hasn't been my thing but 2015-2018 was crazy

This dude has been making music for a minute and honestly I think a good amount of his older music is good TBH. But ever since he dropped WLR he's honest to God kind of just been giving everyone the minimum and people have been hyping his ass up WAY too much. Especially when they don't need to be.

I just listened to WLR over in full, and yeah I get that it's probably not for people my age (I'm almost 31) but damn he's not even that much younger than me and the tracks he's been dropping since 2020 feel half assed and not even complete.

I get that he's super popular among the youth and that's cool, but if he's trying to steer rap in a different way I feel like even if he's trying to get some inspiration from Rocky (which is so obvious) he needs to put some more effort into his music rather than phoning in some trash and expecting the producers to take charge.

If you don't believe carti can actually spit bars:

Thank god somebody fkn said it, and why he tryna sound like futures seed lol

Im with most your posts but it's unfortunate this keeps working for carti because it's bleeding into other musicians and won't help rap in the long run or overall

    carti is just a name

He’s not a genius in anyway

He lets d**** and the sound take over and ads his vocals to feel the void. He can tap into pocket but a lot of times it just feels like he’s not pushing the sound. I love songs like different day. He actually tried.

Yeah dude S/T is great and then Die Lit was cool too. Anything after that (when he really blew up) is just half assed it feels like

Different Day is one of the best rap songs of the last 5 or 6 years easily. Possibly even longer.

I just be stylin', it's hard to sleep
She never made it hard for me
I can't trust my eyes, like, how do I see?
I'm in the high, uh, she's in the heat

Lyrical masterpiece and soul finding song

  • Oct 5, 2024

Playboi Carti works as an artist because you can tell he doesn't give af, and he actually tries not to give af and does his thing. It's actually the opposite of what dudes do now.(attempting to be good at what they do, thus coming out with subpar/underwhelming product cause there's 0 skill/craft in their music, and motherfuckers have no idea how to make anything compelling) I think Carti actually throws convention out the window, and makes whatever he feels at the time.

One of the last actual artist in Hip Hop tbh
