    He's Ye's best protege

Then Kanye has failed the new generation

I meant specifically as a vocalist he’s doing impressions. I would call the album Future impressions over a bed of organs, video game synths and basic trap drums. The production is certainly more unique than the vocals, but making trap beats with a certain instrumental pallet only gets so many points from me

    but Future never wore leather

Lol see this what I’m talking about

Thought you were better than that. You wanted to be a part of this discussion but don’t have anything to contribute beyond “but my opinion!”

You’re getting so worked up for no reason, when all I posted originally was a simple reply to @Nikedufflebag hyping up WLR.

Then, you, interjected with some critique on a post that didn’t even need to be critiqued. You could’ve just left it. Don’t say “you wanted to be part of the discussion,” when all I posted was below.

Link me the future songs that sound like wlr please, otherwise u just typing to type

Bro it’s the cadences. I shouldn’t have to do all that for you to know what I’m talking about but I can get back to you. I know a future flow when I hear one

He keeps focusing on you not being a big future fan and harping on that while ignoring me when I say I’m a
Future stan, one of my favorite rappers and I still hadn’t heard an album quite like WLR when it dropped

If your opinion is so valid, why are you so opposed to defending it? Or reading my posts questioning it?

If I say I never heard The Beatles so Oasis sounds unique to me, how valid do you think that opinion is? Like honestly how much weight do we put on opinions that are clearly based on ignorance?

So having similar cadences makes a whole album an artist impression. Y’all were acting like what @WaltDisneyOG said was wild and now it’s just they had similar cadences

Y’all never heard organs or video game synths before either? Cause I know those drums didn’t sound unique to anyone, and the vocals weren’t either

The reason I brought up the future thing is because people were saying Carti was experimenting with his voice. I don’t think biting future flow and vocal cadence is that experimental

What other modern day artist has had the amount of influence he’s had on rap culture?

He’s only 3 albums in, and everytime he drops, everyone wanting to steal his swag, and image.

Drake, Cole, & Kendrick may be top 3, but who really copying them like Carti?

Because his style is easy to mimic

Rappers don’t copy Drake, Cole & Kendrick as much is because they’re so skilled in their craft that a copycat would look weak in comparison

Rappers (and singers) do copy Drake tbh. Cole and Kendrick don’t have as much influence because tbh a lot of young artists coming up just don’t want to make the type of music they make.

They not gonna like this one

It’s obvious that part of Carti’s influence is the fact that his music is probably one of the easiest types of music to make for amateurs

not only that, who is even Carti’s direct competition right now in this current gen anyways? Uzi?

they aren’t going to be looking to bite dudes that have already largely peaked in the 10s (Kanye, Drake, Cole, Kendrick) so it’s a bit of a moot point anyways

I agree with the fact that I don’t think his voice was that experimental and he did take a lot of vocal styles from Future. I’m just saying calling it a future impression album is just false and he don’t got a single tape that sounds like wlr.

Drake’s sound might have been copied a lot but his rapping style has rarely been copied and done well

Meanwhile Carti clones can rap just like him because he’s mediocre at it
