    i think a large portion of it is that Carti has a way stronger aesthetic than any of those experimental artists that you named, and plus he’s just seen as “cool” so it’s not embarrassing to listen to essentially

    Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Death Grips, etc. and anyone adjacent are artists that regularly get called “white people” music or “scaring the hoes” music and a large part of it is they just aren’t seen as “cool” tbqh

    Carti rarely gets that treatment on here even though you could easily argue his music would fit the bill of the labels above, if they were actually all about the music they would also be at least aware or open to the other artists you listed, but it’s clear that’s not the only box they have to check

    What Future tape sounds like wlr?

    Vocally, all of them

    The beats on WLR do take on a cohesive sound I’ll give it that. Future doesn’t have an album that sticks to that sound the whole way through but his more aggressive songs aren’t that far off, I’d just have to find a future song with an organ or video game synths on it

    I think there’s too much uninformed discourse out there that hides behind “just my opinion!”

    Even opinions can be wrong especially when they’re based on faulty logic

    Like sure it can sound unique to you. But it really doesn’t matter at all that Carti’s music sounds unique to someone who never really listened to future lol.

    That can be your personal experience, sure, but when you start putting that in a debate/discourse like this as if it means something, it’s like, your lack of experience making it unique TO YOU doesn’t hold that much weight lol I’m sorry fam.     I meant specifically as a vocalist he’s doing impressions. I would call the album Future impressions over a bed of organs, video game synths and basic trap drums. The production is certainly more unique than the vocals, but making trap beats with a certain instrumental pallet only gets so many points from me

    The whole “Carti sounds like future” stuff comes from how some of the songs sound when you slow them and pitch down Cartis voice.
